I enjoy smoking a cigar sometimes while playing, but I usually won't smoke at the table because I know the smell and smoke bother some people. I know I don't really like when someone is smoking a cigarette near me. What are you all's thoughts on people smoking at the table?

If I start at an empty table, first thing i ask for is a no smoking sign.

I don't like it, but I play craps and it is crowded enough already without someone waving around a burning stick and blowing smoke into the pit. If they take a step or two back from the table, then I it doesn't bother me.

P.S. I really do like playing in non-smoking casinos

Personally, I don't like any kind of smoking, but I understand that it goes with the territory. As long as the smokers aren't being obnoxious about it (ie. blowing the smoke right towards other players and/or the dealer), then I don't mind. If it gets too bad, I will just go find another table.

I quit smoking cigarettes about 4 months ago (switched to vaping), but I will continue to smoke in Vegas until it's banned. It's just part of the experience for me.

I know that some (all?) of the CET properties in Vegas banned cigar smoking at the tables. I am not a cigar smoker, but it never bothered me a ton.

Whenever I do smoke at a table, I always hold the cigarette behind the back of a chair, rather than on or near the table, and I always blow the smoke straight up in the air, to minimize the effect it has on others.

My BF's husband loves a good cigar while playing. He usually looks for a lone table, no one else
playing and sits where he can hold it away from the dealer. Never has had any problems - we are usually
hanging around the same area. If someone then comes and sits down - they can't complain - it isn't like he was
hiding it. He is respectful and does not blow at the dealer - but yes sometimes the vents in the casino don't cooperate
and smoke ends up going the wrong way - in which case he has moved. We've talked about this and his cigars
don't smell bad to me, but I have been in a casino when someone was smoking something that smelled like
what my cats drag up - ugh. Some casinos, like CET won't let you.

    Despise it!

But not just cigars. In fact, prolly rather a good cigar over a trash cigarette, that the drunken moron next to me blows in my face, before I tell him to stick it where the sun don't shine!

My money usually lasts half way thru a cigarette. Same w sex.

I guess Ive become nicer the older I have gotten...only when it comes to smoking. I typically only smoke now when I go on vacation. If I sit down next to someone who is already there before me, I will ask if itll bother them if I lightup a smoke. Most if not all have no "go for it" although I usually try to palm it and avoid getting smoke near them.

Personally, I never do it at the tables. It's too close quarters with other people and dealers.

And besides, if you spent good money on a cigar (and you should spend good money, cheap cigars are just large cigarettes!), then you should enjoy it where you can relax and concentrate on the experience.

I smoke 1-2 cigars a day while in Vegas but never in the pit.
Normally at a bar while playing VP.
And I always try to be courteous to the folks around me.

I much prefer cigar to cigarette smoke but agree that it is best to start at an empty table and if people join it's on them. I might sit down at that table, but not directly next to you. (I never sit at 3rd base, so feel free)

I know this will make me sound stupid (for those who don’t already know I'm stupid) but if someone at the able asks if they can smoke cigarettes, I always say yes, even though I'd rather they not. I feel that there are non smoking tables at most places and if I'm not sitting at one then I can't force someone else to bend to my wishes.

I never smoke at tables. I smoke at bartop machines, and slots. If I pick a machine and someone is near, I always ask if it bothers them if I light up.

If they say yes, I tell them to go fuck themselves and ask why the fuck they're in Las Vegas, then I'll light up anyway and blow big giant smoke rings right towards their shocked ugly fucking faces....

    Kidding of course.

Ill refrain from smoking if they say yes. I've only had one person say yes he in fact did mind, and dude was a Vietnam Vet that had a double lung transplant a few years prior. No problem.

I had this crotchedy old fuck at The Super Book many moons ago yell at me for smoking a cigarette, acting like a little bitch waving his hand in front of his nose, putting his nose in his shirt, seriously juvenile shit..and all the while he had an ashtray full of cigars and a lit one in his mouth. He asked me how long I planned to sit there...I told him I'm leaving as soon as he does. After he called me a few choice names he got up and left.

I only smoke when I drink and gamble, and as these activities are getting fewer and further between, I am starting to really dislike smoke of any kind myself...except from a pipe. Not enough people smoke a pipe any longer that doesn't contain weed..lol

This is pretty typical of my feeling on cigars. Enjoy a good smoke, but am very aware of where I am and understand people’s dislike for smoke. I have however sat off at a VP or slot machine and had people come sit by me and bitch about my cigar! I simply say there are hundreds of slots here and you chose to come sit next to me!

I have left a table a few rimes when a cigar smoker sat down next to me. I can't stand them. I find them nauseating. Although the last time it happened, the casino's ventilation system favored me and I could barely smell it, so I stayed.

Vegas casinos are the one place where us smokers are not treated like third class citizens. It's allowed so enjoy. With that being said I am always respectful and blow smoke away from the people I'm sitting with.

I'm a non-smoker, so pretty obvious what my answer is here. I try to go to the non-smoking casino here locally. But when I'm in Vegas I expect that people will be smoking and I deal with it. If there is a table where a lot of people are smoking I try to sit at another table. Same with slots or VP. However I would never ask someone to put out their cigar or cigarette. If they ask me if it bothers me, I'm honest and say Yes. But if they try to keep the smoke in the other direction then I'm very appreciative of that.

I do the same thing or if there are only a couple players that are not smoking I'll ask if they mind if they make it non smoking.

Not a fan of cigar smoke and as a former cancer stick smoker, the smell of those don’t bother me as much but makes me want to go light one up myself. I have no desire to go through the process of quitting again! Bottom line with me is if it is allowed and I don’t like it, I can move elsewhere. I just don’t like it when I’m sitting somewhere and a smoker sits down next to me and has to blow their sh*t at me. I will let them know it’s not appreciated and in most cases the person is just not aware of what they are doing and will make adjustments. Then there are just the aholes who think they rule the casino and they are the only ones who matter.

I may smoke 4 or 5 cigars a year...and never in Vegas. I do, however, smoke cigarettes when I'm in Vegas & gambling.
Like everyone else here, I try my best to be courteous & I always ask if I'm joining a table & I don't see anyone that's smoking. If one say that they would rather I didn't, then I move on to another table, or I still join & refrain from smoking.

I have had several experiences with vehement anti-smokers who join a table where I'm playing - and I'm smoking - and they start in on me.
It's one thing to ask me if I could keep my ashtray & lit cigarette off of the table - I will do that if requested.
It's quite another to be grilled about it, or to be asked if I will change tables.
Then, I tend to be a bit stubborn, and suggest that they find another table.
If I get the 'hand-waving' drama or the running commentary, I might even make it a point to smoke even more than I would otherwise.

Once, at the Gold Coast, I was playing solo against the dealer at a $5 DD game. Ashtray next to my chips...pack & lighter sitting on the table.
A group of 4 very attractive 20-something girls come to the table and begin to take seats, when one of them notices the cigarettes & ashtray.
She asks me if I would mind not smoking while they're playing.
In an example of extreme self-control of my normal male urges, I told her that I had every intention of continuing to smoke, pulled one out right then & fired it up.
    They all left.
