And it's not. If it was, there would be millions of Emeralds and 123 Ruby's. Tim's analysis is probably accurate but there are more Ruby's and Sapphires than Emeralds. Times this measly $100 or so by millions and it will paint a different picture.

Boyd would be foolish to think of these people as "not wanting them there". I'm pretty sure they value these customers as the "bread and butter" of their operations.

Ruby's and Sapphires will aspire to one day reach Emerald status. But only if they are content and satisfied with how they are treated and valued. If there were any hint of them not being valued I'm sure they will go elsewhere.

When I've been Ruby, I don't feel like I was unwanted. Once I started getting offers, they never really stopped. I don't get sexy food and free play add-ons but I can't say that what they offer isn't fair.

Of course they want them there...they’re paying for everything rather than gambling..guaranteeing money into the establishment..just on the CASINO side of things; these people that play little and get comps are referred to as “fleas”.
If Boyd somehow lost its Hawaiian connection; imho; they couldn’t recover from it.

Under current circumstance, while everyone is cutting comps and increasing fees and inventing new ones,
I don't expect anything positive from Boyd.

You are right on the money about MSS maintaining the Hawaiian crowd. As long as the Boyd changes are too penalizing, then I think that MSS is fine as long as they maintain their own individuality with things like scratch off tickets. The Hawaiian guests would understand that Boyd changes are not specifically MSS changes.

Emerald gets my wife a monthly $150 spa credit in Biloxi and a weekly $50 food credit.

I agree. It might be entry level, but if handled properly it is a stepping stone to establishing a positive relationship with the casino and might make the patron incline to play more there than somewhere else.

If you like the place and feel valued, you will want to reach for the higher tiers.

Agree. I have always been Ruby but hope to get to Sapphire next week for the first time.

I've heard that the non-Vegas properties would still expect a certain amount of play to get that benefit even if you are Emerald. Has that been your experience?

At Blue Chip, you don't even need to be an Emerald. My mom started getting a free spa service for $100 when she first made Sapphire and got a host. It's usually one service, a steakhouse comp and other weekly food and freeplay perks. So yeah, they expect a certain level of play. In her case, enough play to warrant the attention of an executive host. She's slipped to Ruby before due to infrequent visits and that hasn't radically changed her offers. They may not offer a spa service all the time but her host can comp her that if necessary.

I got a spa comp sent to my house in an offer as ruby from blue chip.

I also can get a back-end comps from host on duty for small food or sometimes a $50 or so from host when I eat at steakhouse.

I feel very wanted and valued there as ruby

Damn! Too bad I don’t live in the Midwest!
It sounds like Boyd shits on their Vegas customers compared to the Midwest!
I put in some decent play at Orleans in 2018 in hopes of getting some offers...haven’t got a damn thing

Here in Hawaii almost all of construction trade workers go to Vegas. Hell, probably 99.9% of all Hawaii people go to Vegas. The other .1% just recently died. :poke:

Anyway, when we talk Vegas we find that you don't necessarily have to be Emerald to be treated well. Most people drift between Ruby and Sapphire so frequently that the hosts actually just looks at your history and frequency of visits.

Some Ruby's are just at that Sapphire threshold but their frequency visits are so constant and so often that their offers sometimes rival what an Emerald would get. My Aunt is like that. She visits so often but her coin-in might be considered low. She told me her host says they look at the patron's history more than the tier level itself.

Yes. One time we did not get the food credit, but it was at a time when they were 'changing' things. Back then you could use the food credit to purchase items at a snack bar. The players club lady said folks would buy up everything in the place to use up their credit. I think they've changed it to just true restaurants now.

When we go to IP in Biloxi we usually get $40 each from mailer/on-line offer plus Kim's 50 food credit. We're going to Biloxi next weekend on a free MGM junket.

The spa credit has never been a problem, she usually gets a mani/pedi. ***Correction, it seems we do have to do some coin-in before the kiosk will offer the spa credit.*** Next week Kim and my son's GF and going to split the credit and get a hair cut and style.

We go to Biloxi maybe 2-3 times a years max.

This may be a clue as to the changes, I have not noticed this until now, so please someone correct me if it has always been this way, although I am pretty sure it hasn't been. Here are some screenshots from my card score history, and total card score, with a 12 month earning history. Notice the total card score does NOT total the last 12 months, or 6 months like it is for locals, but rather since January 1st. Possibly they are changing from a rolling 12 to a reset every year, which would be a change I don't think I would like, and in this case, knock me down to Sapphire. My points drop off every 6 months since I first signed up at BC.... I am always hovering near sapphire but usually can't get there cause I dont make overnight trips every month.

I usually only play there if I book hotel or on multiplier days when they have them. Are are casinos closer to me for a quick few hr trip [BC 1hr 45 min round trip for me]

Their system is so jacked, it's difficult to tell. I've seen my calculated score on the site over mystery time frames with point totals that don't even make sense. I know someone who once got an Emerald card for the full year and didn't have 250k points over at least a 13 month period (couldn't check further back than that and didn't have a screen shot of older point totals.)

If you do not live in Vegas, but change your "home" casino to downtown Vegas (gotta sign a paper at the B connected desk), then you get 12 months. This however, may all change, I say that because my screenshots now show they are counting since Jan 1st.
