    My Trip Report

    Short trip/shorter TR...
I arrived at the BARBARY COAST at 8:30AM Friday morning,
and got a room right after lunch. They gave me 'almost' a
corner room, 3d floor overlooking BALLYS marquee and BELLAGIO's
    Foutains.

When I decided I was going to the STEELY DAN concert, my first
choice for a weekend hotel was the GOLD COAST over the RIO, but
they were close to $200. per night so I chose the BC for the 1st time
at $119. and would walk to the Show at PLANETALADDIN (still a very
big construction mess on the inside)

The rooms are very similar to their sister property GC (GC is better I think)
The staff is great and their Victorian Room Cafe more than accomodating!
Bed was so-so, bathroom is GOLD COAST dinky, and the new plasma TV's
real nice! I still haven't seen a plasma TV in Vegas yet with propperly adjusted color...they're all so hot...looks wrong!

STEELY DAN were GREAT! The sound mix, the voices, the band, the
simple stage set.....everything was very impressive. I hope they don't
take another 17 year vacation and remind me NEVER to go to Vegas in
July again when it's 110-112 degrees unless John Lennon has risen from
the ashes and is performing again... IT WAS MISRIBLE!

GAMING: There wasn't much time for gaming...I played some slots, JOB,
Bonus, DoubleBonus, quarters and dollars depending on where I was...
...ALL VERY UNEVENTFUL, lost at everything I touched this quick trip.
I put some thoughts under Shows/Entertainment for PHANTOM, BODIES,
    and JUBILEE BACKSTAGE TOUR.
...not much of a report huh, real trip coming up in early September.

Just got my Steely Dan tickets for the show in Cincinnati in August. Can't wait. This will be my third time seeing them. They always have the TOP NOTCH studio guys playing with them. Sounds like they are still kicking @$$.

    Thanks for the report.

I saw the PlanetAladdin Show last Saturday...VERY,VERY, COOL!
The Theatre screwed up BIG TIME...they didn't anticipate the amount of
people showing up to the WILL CALL window the night of the Show.

I was late myself and got there at 7:15 to pick up my tickets for the 8PM
Show...the line was half the way through Desert Passage!
Confusion at the doors if you had your tickets and even more confusion as
to what line was what...folks were very pissed off! Aladdin Staff were running
all over the place trying to get things together...

The Show started on time and McDonald was half way through his set
    when I got to my seat...aprox 8:30....1st row/center, right behind the VIP's.

The first 10 rows were set aside for VIP and COPMS and let me tell ya...these
folks were real assholes. They'd storm in late, some with their hosts, others solo...
they'd reach the ushers who asked to see their tickets and they'd rudely push them
aside as if to say..."get out of my way, I'm sitting up front"

The ushers would insist and hold them up....Ooooo that really pissed 'em off!
Their hosts were running back and forth getting drinks, introducing one guest to
another...totally ignoring the Show/making noise...many of these folks could have
cared less where they were or who they were seeing...they were just important and
getting something for free. I recognised the host from the TV show that's shot at GVR.
When 'whoever' had been up at the bar and came back down to their seats...the ushers
hit 'em again asking to see their tickets LOL!

STEELY DAN were just GREAT! Polished, slick, tight...the band, the boys, the backup singers
all were right on their marks and kicked ass big time! The second song of their oncore started
aprox 11:30...they played a long time, very cool!

Hey Gary!...how the hell are ya!
How's the heat, the flooding, the wedding...

Ya know, I had to laugh when I was watching all
those IMPORTANT PEOPLE at the Show...Their seats
were right up to the front of the stage.

The top of the stage overhangs the front of the stage
and thats where all the speaker hang from...so basically,
they were all sitting behind the speakers and the sound must
have been quite poor. I've sat in areas like that before and all
you hear is the music...what 'vocal' you hear is all MUDDY!

My seat/view/sound was perfect...I was maybe 30' from
the front...IT WAS A MUCH BETTER SEAT! lol

    Greg,
I was hoping you would have had a negative report on Steely Dan. I had planned to see them also, but ended up getting invited to a different function that night.
Sounds like I missed a hell of a show. Damn.
