Hotel with fastest WiFi or wired internet?

does anyone know which hotels have the fastest internet? anyone do speedtests at a hotel and remember the speeds? it can be either wifi or wired.

 

I see you mentioned wired. Speeds are different based on the opt-ins.
Are you asking about paid or comped wifi for a hotel guest or standard free while visiting a casino?

 

paid is fine, i could expense it anyway. just curious about fastest speed people have seen or know of under any method/option.

 

If you're paying it will be fast. If not, slower.

seriously tho asking if anyone knows ACTUAL speeds both up and down mbps they experienced or experiences with data having things like 4K or HD video streaming, video conferencing, etc. i know what advertised speeds are but actual speeds and connections are much better at some places than others. ive seen some people post screenshots of their speedtests for hotels on places like yelp or tripadvisor.

Does "fastest" really matter?

There is a point where speed means nothing. Really slot sucks if you are doing anything more than email,etc.

At some point, more speed does not mean anything. Watching a move at 10 vs 100 down is the exact same.

And of course, the hotel can be gigabit, but if one server in your path is slow, you are gonna be slow.

So - what is your REAL question?

 

i mentioned experiences streaming 4k video because i know most ppl probably arent doing speed tests so was just using that as a way to gauge. if i work from the hotel i may have to be on multiple video conferences at once and be able to upload/download large files [several gigs]. ive done it before at various non-vegas hotels and have had mixed results. also some hotels just have a better wifi signal then others so besides speed is simple connection quality. im not going to base my stay solely on wifi but it could nudge me to one place vs another because i know it makes my work much easier when thats not an issue.

 

I’m going to suggest contacting concierge or even Business Center at some of the hotels you are looking at? I would think that might be a question that the business centers may have encountered.

We were offered two different stated speeds at the last Fairfield Inn - clearly stated the (projected) free speed & paid speed. My sons employer (several hundred employees a week-maybe into 1000s) favors Marriott props for good internet service however that doesn’t help you on Strip. (Cosmo had or does have an affiliation with Marriott at some point but theirs was worst internet I’ve ever experienced in Vegas).

 

I stayed at Plaza this weekend and ran the Speedtest app on my phone and got 33 Mbps download and 28 Mbps upload.

 

If you pay for it you're going to get enough speed.
Okay, I'll respond again because I'm thinking you're asking about doing work on Wi-Fi or wired while you are staying in a hotel in Vegas.
I often need internet from hotels while traveling and need a reliable connection for work.
It's not the speed so much as reliability. I have done video conferences from hotels too. Writing also.
Uploading and downloading files, including encrypted because of HIPAA laws as I'm a medical writer.
Business people and those who have to travel for work do it all the time.
Still not getting why you wouldn't want to be sure you get a reliable connection through paying for it vs. the chance you wouldn't.

 

Choosing a Vegas hotel based on the speed of the free WiFi? That's a new one!

Now I'm curious, too. What are you doing that's so important that you need super-fast WiFi, but not important enough that you're willing to pay for it?

 

My experience is that it more depends on where you are in the hotel (or in the office, or in the coffee shop, or in the home) as to how snappy your wifi will be.

Slow? Move 10 feet one way or the other.

The only places I've had issues with wifi or cell service are in a few places in Sams Town and at the bar at Off The Strip and the nearby BBQ place.

thanks everyone some really good information. i said right in the beginning i am perfectly fine paying for internet so not sure why a couple diffrent people assumed i didnt want to pay. that plaza speed is really good for a hotel but unfortunately would only stay on strip. that delano speed is pretty decent and typical of the better hotels on the strip that ive tested myself.

 

I was getting 20 down / 12 up from Vdara last week. When I'd move over to Aria next door it dropped to 8/5. I assume due to more people saturating it.

 

I think you can rule out any CET property - they're known for having terrible wifi quality/speed.

 

Last time around at the Plaza it was smokin' fast. 65 Mbps down and 52 up. This was in May.

 

Yes, location can be a big factor. I often use my phone as a hotspot and connect my computer to that. Moving the phone a few feet can make a bid difference. I assume the hotspot is one of your options?
