Palazzo à gogo, Live TR, Pic HEAVY, 7/10-7/18

Woo-freaking-hoo, its that time of the year again for my annual summer journey to Vegas. Can't wait to get get there. Going to give Palazzo a try this time. I’ve wanted to stay there for a long time but the rates were never quite in my wheelhouse but last summer a very nice VMBer gave me the name of her host at Palazzo and I finally made contact with him a few months ago. I told the host about my modest play and he got me a suite with a deal that was just too good to turn down. The appeal of the Palazzo to me is the seemingly laid back pool atmosphere along with all the great restaurants. I’ll probably also get a pass to their spa so I can use the sauna, steam room and whirl pool each morning as well.

I’m going to meet up with a few VMBers this trip. One of my very first VMB buddies, @topcard, and I are going to meet up and play some BJ and have some fun downtown. Next weekend @Chuck2009x and I are going to meet up for a drink or six (hope you get over your hangover Chuck and haven’t sworn off booze) and if both our BRs are still intact probably devolve into some slot degeneracy. I’m also hoping to meet up with a fellow Floridian, @deansrobinson, to have a drink or two and shoot the breeze. Its too bad there isn’t going to be a slot pull going on but hanging out with peeps from our tribe is always a highlight.

One of the things I’m really looking forward to is the semifinals and finals of the World Cup. I’ve watched parts of every game so far and I’m really looking forward to seeing how this whole thing winds up, its been a helluva tourney so far. I’ll probably end up watching the games at Mirage or Wynn sports book.

I really don’t have a lot planned for the week, I’m just going to take it as it comes and enjoy my time. Last night I looked at my past trip reports and noted that a lot of the things that I thought I was going to do I never got around to. This time I’m just going to go with the flow and breath it all in. That being said I am definitely going to finally go to Frankie’s Tiki Room and finally give the Wynn buffet a try.

As far as gambling, its going to be slots, BJ, carny games, roulette and some VP. I want to try that VP game where you can play 100 games at once. I’m a VP neophyte but I’d like to try that game at a relatively low limit but I can’t remember what its called. The hunt for fun slots to play is always fun, if anyone has any suggestions feel free to let me know.

Last Christmas at Cosmo I did a FaceTime slot pull on my iPhone with my GF’s son and it was such a big hit with the three of us that we're going to tee it up again. His mom let him save up and give me $40 and I told him I'd match him dollar for dollar (free play for a kid who's never been to Vegas...who knew) He wants me to do a preliminary FaceTime with him so we can scout out the slots. Ah, to be ten years old again…….

I’ll be all over the strip and downtown but I probably won’t make it off strip. This will be a pic heavy Live TR so I’ll be sure to load some pics of the progress of Resorts World, Park MGM, Freemont Street et al. If anyone wants any info or pics of anything while I’m there give me shout and I’ll do my best.

I gotta say that these trips, even after 35 plus years of going to Vegas, just get better and better. I’ve gotten a ton of great advice here about hotels, comps, restaurants etc. that has been invaluable so thanks to all those who have chipped in to make these visits to the desert that much more satisfying. I’m super pumped for my Palazzo visit and looking forward to trying some new places to dine and drink.

I hope you do make it to Frankie’s and enjoy a drink or two there. From my experience, there’s a good vibe there any time of day. I recommend the Three Rum Scum. All their tiki drinks are $10, and they have some neat souvenir mugs too.
