Read the news on another LV blog. I've never dined there. It's one of the places on the strip you pass by on your way to another place.

Too much competition for them. They do have a great happy hour everywhere but Boston (no happy hour drink pricing in the commonwealth of mass)

I had dinner at the one in Manhattan many years ago. It was excellent. For whatever reason, I never found myself thinking of or going to their LV location.

The other blog and the LV-RJ indicate the strip location is closing but they're opening another Vegas location at a to-be-determined spot.

I ate at that location last year and it was just "okay" - not a great cut of meat and no seasoning. I only went there because it was a business dinner set up by someone else - I travel enough that I'd rather do the chain places in Chicago, NY, LA, etc.

It is not part of, or even close to being part of any casino. With maybe a few thousand great steak places on the strip, there is less reason to make the walk over there. And, with what they (just about every place) charge in Vegas for a good steak dinner, and so many getting comps at other places... well... just seems like they have some serious competition.

If I'm in Vegas, the last place I'm going to go for dinner is a chain restaurant, even if their steaks are fantastic like theirs are.

S&W stood a long time at that location, so it certainly wasn't a failed experiment.

And there's that whole "chain" thing again. Morton's? Anything by Colicchio/Puck/Batali-Bastianich/Emeril/etc.?

One of the best meals of my life was at that spot in LV. It is a shame it is closing but maybe they'll open an even better spot. Of course... I haven't eaten there in years because of the convenience of in casino steak houses and the myvegas deal at Tender... guess I contributed to their demise, lol.

Used to eat there every trip. Ate at the bar, usually Ronin was the bartender. Good Irish lad.

Stopped eating there when I stopped playing at MGM Grand.

On a side note, it's possible that I'm still not allowed into the Morton's in Boston, thanks to an office Holiday party and a food fight that may or may not have ensued. (Someone threw a roll at me... was I not supposed to respond?)

That was 15 years ago, though, so probably safe.

This makes me sad. One of the earliest memories I have of Vegas was going to S&W with my Father when I was ~10 years old. He used to travel to Vegas often for business and sometimes he would take me along, he would give me $40 to go play in the arcades while he went and gambled, we would meet up every hour at a pre-set location and if he was doing well he would give me more money and return to the table, if he was doing crumby we would move on to another place.

I distinctly remember having to enter the restaurant through what seems to be a back alley, it is a memory I will never forget.

Ate there many years ago. Enjoyed my meal, but for whatever reason, never made it back.

I think they should have tried to snag the spot that will be vacated by Carnevino. That place in the Canal Shoppes is a hike to get to.

Zefferino's was a great place for special sunday brunches. Nice two story building - which is probably what S and W wanted.

As somebody who may or may not be allowed back at Del Frisco's, I feel you.
