The details are out concerning the grand opening tier match promo. I cannot complain.

Better than what they rolled out a few weeks ago. It was just a room to match levels. Looks like I'll be dropping by for my $150 and 2 free buffets. I dont need a room. I couldn't use it, since I fly in on Borgata's dime. But I'll take the rest!

Anyone ever get a Tier match remotely? Not showing up in person?

I matched from Coast to Coast and it was always in person so they can see your matched card and you could prove your identity. I'd assume fraud is way too easy with screengrab or doctored offers to do it any other way.

Not sure why you would want to do it remotely. If you are matching to get the higher tier, the free play + add ons and what not. You'll need to actually be in the casino to use any of that. And if thats the case, you can match then.

Thanks. I was thinking about using the Hard Rock rooms over CET rooms. I am leaning towards one trip just to see how AC has changed, and of course use my free buffet and free play from HR.

Thanks for posting the info. Looking forward to seeing what they did with the place. It's a big property.

The tier room match is still valid, so you can book a night to get your feet wet.

The rooms look nice. Never stayed at Taj, so this would be my first stay in that property.

Ahh, makes sense! I know you can sign up for the Hard Rock card online, and then maybe reach out to a host? Online it says:

WILL SIGNING UP FOR A WILD CARD EXCLUDE ME FROM ANY NEW MEMBER PROMOTIONS AT OPENING THIS SUMMER?
Signing up for your Wild Card now will not exclude you from any new member promotions.

They open in 9 days, maybe call and ask? They might ask for proof of the matched card when you get there, but so what

This is exciting to see! I may want to call ahead and book accordingly to determine where to allocate my play in AC. That said, I do like being able to choose between Harrahs in the winter and Ceasars in the summer with CET.

Also, there's a different match on their website for Diamond. In one instance, they say it gives you the ultimate status at HR and in another, they say it only gives you elite. Can anyone confirm?

You are sorta misreading the promo. There are officially two "tier" promos going on. The first, original promo was the tier room match. Basically if you were 7*-type level, you got two comp nights, but if you were Diamond-type level you only got one night (though some Diamonds were offered two). The second, more recent promo was the actual tier match. With this one, anyone who is Diamond and above gets their top card, Rock Royalty, and the aforementioned match bonuses including two comp nights. CET Platinum/MLife Pearl levels get Elite status, their middle card, and bonuses also.

I know people are questioning why they are giving Diamonds/MLife Golds Rock Royalty, and I think it's simple. It has little to do with going for that big chunk of business, but I think almost everything to do with Hard Rock's tier structure. It is similar to myBorgata rewards in that if you earn $1000 in comp dollars you get the top card, but they have a middle card (Elite) and it only requires $250. That is a HUGE jump. If you were Diamond and up, you got Black card at Borgata, period. When they shifted to MLife, they used their calculations to determine which level you got (Gold, Platinum, Noir). Smart. Hard Rock just said, eff it, and moved Diamond players to Rock Royalty instead of bumping them down to Elite. Smart. It also gives those Platinum/Pearl players incentive because no one EVER matches lower tiers. Get a room and some free play, and you might like it enough to stay a little longer. Smart.

Appreciate the insight and the clarification. I would hardly call their website / marketing intuitive, but their strategy to lure players is definitely a solid one. Hoping it plays out in their favor. I guess I'll have to take advantage of their Tier Match when I'm down there. With that, any insight on how points are accrued at the property?

I just called to book the one comp night on the "room match" offer. Was able to get a Friday night in July no problem and the phone rep made sure to tell me that when I get there, I should take advantage of the tier match program as well. I'm sort of wondering if I end up getting two more free nights --- if I somehow parlay my ill-gotten mLife gold status into three free nights at Hard Rock, plus top tier at Hard Rock and Oceans for a while, I'm going to be a pretty happy camper.

I was able to get a Saturday night comped in July with a Gold Mlife. Just checked the rate for that night and it is over $450. Looking forward to staying there and taking advantage of the tier match. Curious to see the difference from when it was the Taj, we used to stay there quite a bit. Hard Rock took the building down to the studs so it is a total remodel.

For those who got the tier match, did you call? I'm wondering if I split up my trip to do 2 nights at Ceasar's and 2 nights at Hard Rock. Frankly, I don't mind low-playing them to just scout the property.

Yes, I called. Ocean is also doing a tier room match, so that is something to consider. Doesn't start til July 1st and you're eligible after you do the tier match.

Hard Rock is offering a nice match deal. Ocean Resort is meh. I will probably check out Hard Rock on my next visit.
