i am going back to our beloved Vegas in August. I’ve been there twice in the last year. Both trips two nights. First trip I didn’t even go to the Orleans, last trip I spent a few hours there. Mind you not very heavy play. I was actually surprised that after a seven year absence I was still in their system. I’m sure I must have also played in some of their sister properties last trip. I also have stayed at the Orleans twice in the past 10 years or so, but again before last August I hadn’t been to Vegas in 7 years. Any idea how I wound up getting comp nights ? Was this a get acquainted again kind of offer ? A co-worker actually asked me how I got comped rooms and I really don’t know. Anyone got anything ?

It doesn't take much play to get a room at Orleans. We stay there twice a year for 6 nights each time. Love the place.

Downtown properties don't require that much to get comped - hell Park MGM (lol) will give anyone that breaths a free room right now.

Just keep building your comp network!

We spent and evening at The Orleans a few back. We played very little slots with our cards in. My wife got offers for free rooms for a few months and then they fizzled down to just discounted rates when we did not return within the year. It seemed to me that they were throwing a few lines out to see if you wanted to come back and we didn't they stopped fishing.

Im in the same happy boat as you. I received two 2 nite comps at downtown boyd hotels.. Im the lowest of the low rollers. I used to stay at the Gold Coast once a year until the resort fees got too high. Then switched a few years ago to Downtown because they had no resort fee. When i got my comps i booked as fast as i could figuring this has to be a mistake.

Sometimes that's all it takes - they want you back! Good for you and hope your August trip is great!

When you say "not very heavy play", what does that consist of, if you don't mind me asking?

notfromconcentrate, I don’t mind at all. Quarter VP. I do realize now my play at some of the downtown properites must have come into play. I also played a bit at the Gold Coast and Sams Town, and it was also quarter VP. It’s becoming clear now. I guess all of my play at the various Boyd properties count as one. I had a 7 year absence from Vegas and much consolidation has taken place over that time. I’m still kinda relearning the ropes a bit. Thanks everyone.

Boyd is pretty good about comps. I'm not a big time player either and get 3 nights all the time.

Boyd had a bug near the start of the year that was giving comp rooms to people with hardly any play, but you had to look around for it.

If they gave you an offer that specifies comp my best guess would be your combined play across their properties was concentrated into a day or two and enough for a teaser.

It doesn't take much play anyway, but yeah, if you haven't been there in a long time, they probably throw you a teaser. Enjoy!

Yeah I got the "teaser" last year with Ballys 5 nights comp, with the 3 remaining nights around $55.00 each plus resort fee. This year I cannot get the time of day! I called and they would not even talk comp. I got offers from Gold Coast this year after spending little time in the casino last year and got 2 comped nights with the reaming 5 at a great rate. I received the MGM Park offer of 4 comped nights with a great rate for the remaining night, however I smoke and enjoy some quiet time in the morning in my room so that squashed that plan.

Yes, it’s all becoming clear to me now. Again I have been away for so long ( hopefully never again ) the amount of consolidation in Las Vegas and the casino industry in general is something that takes a little getting use to. I remember last year prior to my first trip in 7 years I reacquainted myself with this board and I remember thinking to myself what the hell is Mlife and CET ? I’m probably never gonna get comps from those two particular companies but perhaps reduced rate rooms are a possibility. However because in general their VP at the quarter level isn’t great I don’t play their much. I do think both Boyd and stations I have a much better chance at receiving future offers. Being that I’m staying at the Orleans it will get some decent play and hopefully I’ll continue to receive comp offers.

You would be surprised by CET. They will throw rooms at the Rio to almost anyone who shows them any kind of play. Swing by on your next trip and run a few dollars through a machine and see what pops up online. Keep in mind what "offers" they email are not the only discounts you will get. Their rate calendar will have better discounts/free rooms that aren't reflective of your actual offers.

I’m jealous. For my play (~$5,000 a day $.25 VP) I get comps at ElCo, QQQQ, and the D. But no consistent comps from Boyd’s downtown.
