    My Trip Report

Originally, I wasn't going to do a trip report. I was just in Vegas last week, wrote a mini report, posted it.. and I thought that I would just kick back and slot around w/o the burden of capturing moments on film (wait, what's film?!?). As the weekend progressed, I noticed a familiar theme -- first time experiences. It's a sign from gawd, I know it. So, here we are.

This weekend was my first time for (in no particular order):
    1. Actually winning $$ on slots at Paris
    2. Visiting Park MGM
    3. Playing Mega Vault slot
    4. Having a slot machine reboot on me
    5. Winning 1000 coins on a Monopoly wheel
    6. Winning multiple Wonder 4 jackpots at a time

I'm having a super late dinner this very moment before my miserably redeye flight home at 12:30am.. Ugh.
So, pardon me if I sound fuzzy.

    1. Winning $$ on slots at Paris

Last time I was there, everything was a loss. All of my favorites, even the reliable(?) Wicked Winnings was a total bust for me.
After my windfall on Buffalo Gold last week, I did the stupid thing and started chasing Buffalo again, dreaming of a repeat performance.
Amazingly enough, I managed to have some luck at Paris on BG.. eventually cashing out around $1350 (no handpay, no taxes!). Left the place as soon as I could, knowing how things go when you've snorted coke on the winner's table. Unfortunately, it was the first night of the trip and who wants to sit back and bask in the positive glow of a bigger bankroll? Heck, not me!

No, I didn't capture the winning moment with a celebratory picture. Here is another Buffalo Gold pic to make up for it:

    2. Visiting Park MGM

I've been curious to see what they did with the remodel. I never liked Monte Carlo, especially that foul granny's-pannies scent that they piped into the casino. Thankfully, that smell is no longer! Hurrah! The color scheme is interesting - trying to be a classy spring green version of Bellagio but without the glitzy mall shops. As you walk towards the casino from Aria, there is a long corridor with windows facing the pool area. Easy voyeurism for the slow-rolling seniors before the casino showdown. The layout is basically the same.. this time, there are lots of video slots and less of the old 3-reels, although they saved some (whew!).

My biggest complaint is the restroom location before entering the casino. There's a sign that indicates that restrooms are just past the Starbucks, but it turns out they are behind closed doors in the Convention Center area. So, if you follow the arrow and end up with unfriendly doors, just barge in and let loose.

    3. Playing Mega Vault slot

Machines were actually good to me on my short visit. Found a Kitty Glitter that churned out 45 free spins (2 re-triggers!!), hit all the wild kitties**, and cashed out at $650 on a $1.50 bet. Then I noticed someone playing Mega Vault .. I've seen all of the crazy YouTube slot videos and yet never found a Mega Vault machine in the Chicagoland area. Turns out Park MGM has 2 of 'em.. they are "hidden" in the menu of games on these multi-slot selection terminals. It's right as you enter the gaming area, just past the High Limit slots.
Put in a $100 and, right as I was about to give up, I hit the bonus and cashed out at $500. Not bad! I see how people just churn through money trying to get the bonus though.

**No, it's not called "Pussy Glitter", get your mind out of the gutter...!

    4. Having a slot machine reboot on me

I had just hit the Miss Kitty Gold bonus round on Wonder 4 Tower when suddenly the screen blanked out. Literally, the machine rebooted. I panicked and summoned a slot tech, who just came by and watched. He said it was no biggie .. Sure enough, it did its thing and returned to the bonus round after about 5 minutes.... Never had that happen though.

I don't know why the screen text is sideways... Who is that supposed to be for? Weirdness.

    5. Winning 1000 coins on a Monopoly wheel

I think I may have won the 1000 coins before, but not on this particular incarnation of monopoly. To be honest, I generally don't play Monopoly slots .. The wheel spin is always underwhelming.. Until it's not.

I feel like 3 coin in quarter slot Monopoly machines have died out ... Replaced by these 9 coin monstrosities.

    6. Winning multiple Wonder 4 jackpots at a time

I can't recall the last time I won the Wonder 4 jackpot for a game (not the Grand)... It's happened but only once a trip and not every trip. Well, this time it happened a lot. Just goes to show how ridiculously tight the slots are at my local. In case you are wondering, the bet size is not a great predictor of success.

Carrot cake at Aria Patisserie is amazing! Heavy on the cinnamon, no raisins, and not super saturated.

Nice report! Sounds like the redeye on Frontier...know how that goes, ugh. And we had to ask about those convention area bathrooms at Park MGM, I expect those to be heavily underutilized.

    Damn! Nice wins!
Winning 60000+ Credits off of a 150 credit bet is huge!
The best I’ve done on that game is around 30000 credits off a 150 credit bet.

It was the AA flight just after midnight.

The slot attendant said they get questions everyday about the bathroom.

Yeah that was my best ever on Kitty Glitter ... I generally avoid it because it's all about the bonus and not the regular line hits. Thought I could get a handpay but the biggest individual win with the wilds was only 125 bucks or so for $1.50 ..
