My brother told me that when he applied for a business card without owning an actual business, he simply told him that the TIN was "Applied for" and they accepted that (even though he never applied for one). Of course, YMMV.

I think that is what transpired between @Joe and me in our transaction. I have still not heard back as to any settlement for this loss or emotional damage.

And we pay a fee for airline security while THiS is standard procedure.

    Huh?

That has nothing to do with this. Just like the immigration policy is not related. Or the age when you get SS. Or the breakpoints to get ACA. Or the standard deduction. Or age to join AARP. Or drinking age in Iceland.

    Again - HUH?

    Thanks for the answer.
Wish I would have known this a few months ago before I paid the annual fee.

You don't need a business TIN to get a SW business VISA card. I got one a couple of years ago just fine without one. I said my business was a sole proprietorship and that it was me "DBA my business name." I just used my SS#, since a sole proprietorship doesn't need to file a separate tax return.

Just relaying my experience. I tried that route and it was declined. When I got the TIN (which is free) and reapplied with the exact same info, I was accepted.

I applied and got one instantly I could use to purchase flights. What’s kinda funny is I applied just for myself and I don’t have a real job anymore. Lol My credit line is only $16K on it though. I used the bonus points for getting the card to get a free flight, so even if I never use it again, it was worth it.

    Joe,

My wife was able to get a business card using her SS# too. They first declined her, but she called and they approved it. But it sounds like SW may be trying to make it harder to play games to get a Companion Pass. Next time maybe I'll have to get a TIN.

Jose sends his greetings. We played at the Boar's Head Bar for quite awhile last week and he said you'd only recently left town. We fared pretty well there. I even got a $5 scratcher!

Their own greed is the real source of the problem. I got the standard card about 7 years ago. Within three months, I started getting mailers soliciting me to upgrade to the Premier card. I did after having the standard card for eleven months. Multiple times each month, I will get a marketing letter asking me to apply for the Premier card which I already have. They (Chase) know I have the card, yet they continue to market directly to me...same name, same address, same credit history. If they don’t want me and you and everyone else to not double or triple or google dip, stop marketing to current customers.

    Back to regular programming...

You might want to edit your post as it is not clear what you are saying or asking.

(if English is not your native language - I apologize in advance)

I recently applied for a Chase Business card for the first time and it got approved without a TIN.

On another note I also have the SW personal card, got 60k points for that. But I do plan to close it when the AF hits.

...This thread makes me wonder just how many "Vandalay Industries" exist on paper out there.
