    My Trip Report

    Greetings VMB,

For the tenth time in my life, and the fourth time in the past nine months, I am headed to fabulous Las Vegas, Nevada. I started going to Vegas as a kid in the 90s, then went as a poor college student, and then finally as a real working adult. I have loved Vegas more every time I have gone and there is really nothing quite like doing Vegas solo in my opinion.

This trip was not originally solo. I planned this trip with my friend Rocky after our trip last September. Rocky ended up having a work obligation that was due to a big promotion, so we delayed our trip together till this coming September…but I obviously didn’t cancel. I was pumped to go with Rocky as he’s who I really discovered adult Vegas with, but man I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t excited for five days of doing whatever the hell I want whenever the hell I want to do it. What makes it even better is that I feel it is very well-deserved – I’ve been working hard and it has been paying off beautifully.

    So what’s on the agenda?

    - Flying Southwest, getting in tomorrow just after 7 PM and flying out Sunday morning.

    - Staying at the Flamingo in a Go Executive room. I am easy to please in the room department – I just want renovated and convenient, and this was the best option.

    - Buying a shitload of marijuana at the Apothecary Shoppe. A mix of edibles for the long-term high and vape pens for the short-term.

    - POKER TOURNAMENTS. I fell in love with these last trip, when I did 9 of them. I will be doing tournaments at: Harrah’s (at least twice), Golden Nugget, Caesars and Planet Hollywood (40K in a Day). I will almost definitely add more to this list and am open to suggestions.

    - Steakhouses. I’ve got reservations at Vic & Anthony’s at Golden Nugget, Old Homestead at Caesars and Ruth’s Chris at Harrah’s. One more is a possibility. Outside of steakhouses, the food porn will run the gamut but veer towards the $2.49 Casino Royale hot dog end of the spectrum.

    - Slots and slots and slots and slots. I LOVE slots! Nothing better than an entertaining slot session when you’re stoned, just so relaxing. I’ve stuck almost exclusively with penny slots in the past but am going to venture into the 25 cent and maybe $1 range a couple times this trip.

    - Some craps and UTH and a little bit of BJ. I love table games as well but my loss tolerance is still pretty low. I’ll definitely be hitting the tables downtown and on the Strip I’ll be on the lookout for $5 craps tables, $5 UTH and Free Bet BJ.

    - Pictures galore. If you are looking for a pic-filled TR, you’ve come to the right place. I just became a homeowner for the first time and I have a nice space on the wall next to the TV for a Vegas collage. I’ll be taking pictures of my favorite spots but also interesting little gems one can find all over the place in Vegas.

My bankroll is $2,500 or $500 / day, which is my largest yet. I am bringing $1,700 or so with me to get me started but that includes cash for the Mary Jane, since the federal government won’t let me use a card and get points for my green yet. I’m not bringing my entire bankroll since I actually prefer being forced to take money out in Vegas if I need it – it forces me to keep track of my pace. Hopefully I never need to hit up an ATM!

I have very much enjoyed having the VMB community along for the ride on my past few trips and I look forward to the same on this one. I can’t wait!

Have a great time! I do like solo trips too and have one coming up. It's just different. I enjoy going with friends too but it's been awhile since i've done a truly solo trip and am looking forward to it since my friend trips lately have been a lot of early day drinking and early nights. Want to change it up.

See you have reservations at Vic & Anthony's.. do they still have the special pre-fixe menu that you have to print off from their website? Last time we did it, it was 3 courses for like $50 per person and it was way more food than I needed. Was hesitant the first time because I figured the waiters would judge us as frugal and bad tippers from the jump once we pulled out the special menu (you have to print it and take it in to get it I think). But they didn't and the service was spectacular from start to finish.

Didn't see the Prix Fixe menu but thanks for the tip!

Good morning everyone. Appreciate the well wishes. I jumped out of bed this morning and can barely contain my excitement. Time to get packing and go get some cash. Will be heading to the airport around 2:30ish.

Behold the starting bankroll: $1680. I anticipate about $600-700 going to weed and the rest is the gambling budget for Days 1 and 2...and hopefully 3, 4 and 5 too!

They do still have the Distinctive Dining Menu - $52 for 3 courses. It says you have to print and bring the menu, but I'm wondering if you could get away with showing it on your phone. http://www.vicandanthonys.com/pdf/menus/las-vegas/distinctive-dining.pdf

We all do Vegas differently...my thought when I read $600-$700 of your bankroll is allocated for weed "that's money better spent gambling" but that's just me.

    Enjoy!
