I think the hotel is operating but the casino is not. Could they just lease out the gaming portion? Does anybody really even take a chance on that option?

:haha: I fixed the title for you.

Saw this article a couple of days ago about their court date next week:

I'll post a link in here if I see anything after the hearing on Monday.

The article states "Lucky Dragon was the first new casino to be built in Las Vegas since the recession." The US has been through more than 1 recession, but I assume the article is referring to 2008 which doomed much of the growth in Vegas, and elsewhere.

But how was LD the 1st new casino? Aria opened, post recession, in 2009. Cosmo in 2010. Cromwell is practically 100% brand new outside of some structural steel that was reused. I guess you could argue that SLS was not "built", just reconfigured via a gutting of Sahara. Same with the Linq. And Downtown Grand was just in 2013. Even the gut renos all have "new casinos" even if they saved a hotel tower or such.

Maybe I am missing what "built" means. But stating that LD was the 1st new casino to be built in the past 10 years seems misleading.

Aria and Cosmo were both started and financed pre-financial crisis. Despite horrible finances they managed to finish post crisis.

This article meant this was the first brand new build to get financing and be built since then.

I mean, you can argue the semantics, but the point with all those reopenings and renos was that they marked the type of places that would once have been demolished and built anew, but since 2008, no one had built anything new.

I think what they mean is built from the ground up and not a renovation. I was going to say built "from scratch".

I didn't see anything about this until this article last night.

It is still unclear if they are talking about someone to buy them outright, or just a new partner on the project. I guess we'll find out more in late June, or July, when a sale was originally scheduled.

There is also a little clarification for @Grid at the bottom of the article. :)

Strangely enough, I got a few promotion emails from Lucky Dragon this weekend. They were for the hotel and food promos. Did anyone else get them?

I'll have to see if I can retrieve them from my deleted emails.

I visited Lucky Dragon in 2016.

I did not gamble, just wanted to see it.

Poor location. As in, really really really bad location.
    Parking problems.
    Gaming floor was terrible, IMHO.
Signs were in Chinese and English.
I think VIP was on second floor, I did not inquire about VIP as I knew I would never be coming back.
The only person that came up to me was an American Security Guard to welcome me to the Lucky Dragon.
None of the Asian people there even tried to make eye contact.
Hotel lobby, which was on the back side of the casino, looked nice, but then it was brand spanking new. Again, no one spoke to me in the Hotel Lobby.
No one was there gambling. As in EMPTY.

This shot was taken in the evening a few days after their so-called Grand Opening. It seems like the common theme among those who report going there was that it was empty of people.
