I have accepted the fact after last night that VGK is a damn good hockey team. They are fast, hockey smart and opportunistic. Fleury is just incredible.

A Stanley Cup victory would shake the NHL establishment to it's core.

As a Blackhawks fan since 1980, what Vegas is doing is shocking the hell out of me.

I don't think there's any tougher trophy in sports to win than the Stanley Cup. The grueling, every-other-day schedule and the high intensity of every game make it hardest mountain in sports to climb (especially team sports). A hot team can win in Baseball and surprise people, but in the NFL and NBA you pretty much know who your "contenders" are from season to season. Every league has upstarts - but this is different.

The Knights have that one critical ingredient that every Cup winner MUST have, and that's a world class goalie. They have that, and he's playing world class, so that will keep Vegas in games and have them surviving surges that other teams would not. But to build the necessary chemistry and "like-mindedness" that needs to be there to win a Cup is unfathomable in a first year expansion club.

They haven't won it yet, but what you are seeing is really special. I don't think most Vegas hockey fans realize the weight of what they are seeing. and the players don't seem to feel that either. They're just riding that wave - as should all of you. Savor it.

This is disgusting!! The Knights have just won the Conference finals in their first year and they still have to pay for sex?
At least give them complementary resort fees!!

Can't wait to see what's next! Go Knights, go!

(I just started watching hockey this year. Boyfriend is a lifelong hockey fan and grew up playing, so I had to. With Vegas, I'm biased - fucking love Vegas, but these guys are amazing! It's been such a blast to watch.)

They are playing well and have for most of the year...way above ordinary expectations for any type of expansion team. One benefit of the larger league is more decent to good players unprotected for them to make chose from. They were set up to get a lot of NHL caliber talent right off the bat. GMGM (General Manager George McPhee) then has the chance to make trades, etc. to further build the team. GMGM was with the Capitals when they made their only Cup appearance. Their coach is solid, having done well with the Panthers before being fired there.

The NHL put more emphasis on fielding a competitive expansion team in Las Vegas and it shows.

Would have loved to see the Jets win but I'm sure looking forward to watching the Knights play for it!

It's the most amazing thing I've seen in the NHL in my life. The front office deserves credit for being able to not just patch a team together for the first year, but build a competitive team. Having a hot goalie in the playoffs doesn't hurt either.
