    Greetings!
We are headed to Venetian/Palazzo, for 3 nights, at the end of the month as part of the Princess Cruise offer they sent me. It states that I can upgrade my cruise if I have 30,000 Slot Reward Points during this stay. Does anyone know if this is plausible with a $1000 a day bankroll? I still can not get my brain to understand around coin in and theo, especially at V/P. Are there certain slot machines that would give me better opportunity at more points? I generally play penny slots with $1.50 - $2.00 max bets. But I am considering playing some $1 slots this time. Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

One more question, does anyone have any experience with this cruise offer? Good or bad? Never have cruised before so we thought trying it for free, or almost free, would be a great way to try cruising.

    Thanks!

I will await the points experts on the math part.

BUT - depending on that answer, it might be cheaper to pay for the upgrade. Did they say what sort of upgrade they are offering? From what to what?

We have done LOTS of casino type cruise deals. It is cheaper up front. But, if you play much, it will cost way more - LOL!

I agree that it would probably be cheaper to just pay for an upgrade. They are only offering me the inside cabin with the opportunity to upgrade to an oceanview. I was just wondering if since I am planning on playing anyway would my bankroll come close to achieving that 30,000 point mark on a 3 day trip. My husband's response to the "free" cruise was, "So, we are going to Vegas, picking up a cruise coupon and not spending a single dollar on anything else? "Free" is relative. lol

I'll estimate the theo on slots at 12.5% because that's the lowest I found at Palazzo on my last 2 stays.

If your daily loss limit is $1,000, I'd expect you to normally be able to do somewhere between $5,000 and $7,000 coin-in per day, or let's say $15,000 - $20,000 for the stay.

    $15,000 coin-in = $1,875 in theo
At Grazie level, that's 18,750 points
    At Gold, it's 28,125
    At Platinum, it's 37,500

    $20,000 coin-in = $2,500 in theo
At Grazie level, that's 25,000 points
    At Gold, it's 37,500
    At Platinum, it's 50,000

Playing pennies, you can expect the theo % to be higher (and so the number of points will also be higher), but that also potentially lowers the amount of coin-in you can expect.

Looks to me like if you're Gold or Platinum you'll probably reach 30,000, if you're only Grazie level, you'll need some decent luck.

Keep in mind that Oceanview is usually a porthole. Balcony is next level up from that. If you look online at prices, you will see the price difference is not much.

Thanks @Chuck2009x !!! Unfortunately, I am still only Grazie level, but my CRM at V/P advised me to have my hubby use my card too so that he can help me rack up the points. He also said to make sure I know when I make Gold level and be sure to go to the Grazie desk and have them change my card. Would it not automatically switch me to Gold level accumulation if I was in the middle of a game? Is there a way to figure out the theo of a game, while we are playing? And by we, I mean my hubby. He will gladly do the math while playing. I just like the flashing lights.

We love staying at V/P, and they've done me right by offering me free nights every single month, but I was thinking of trying out some play at Cosmo to see if we can get a free night or two there. What are you thoughts on that?

@nostresshere - I did do some of the research on the Princess website. If we can make that oceanview level with what we were planning on playing anyway, then hopefully we can pay for the difference up to balcony. They said it is up to Princess on whether or not they would allow the upgrade. I guess it depends on how full the cruise is that we choose to go on. Have you been on any of the Princess cruises? Do you have a particular ship or itinerary that you liked best? Share with me all your cruising wisdom.

I took V/P up on the Princess cruise last in Fall 2016. We upgraded to a minisuite with points, then paid for a full suite.

The cruise was great. It isn't something I'd do all the time, but had a blast.

Which itinerary did you choose? I'm a little nervous about dragging DH on to this. We usually do all inclusive trips in the Caribbean so this would be a first and if he doesn't like it, I'll never hear the end of it.

To learn way more than you want, go to CruiseCritic.com and find the Princess sub forum. Good luck
