Great report Toddster. Fellow Kentuckian here and get a kick out of people from other states. My nephew asked for taters at a Denny's one time and blew the waitresses mind. She had no idea what he meant.
Far Eastern Kentucky really blows my mind and I'm only a few hours away. (just south of Lexington). Knew a guy in college from around Pikeville (Packville) He'd get excited and start rambling and even I growing up here couldnt understand him. You'ns gonna go down to the crick with us....ramble ramble something about crappie and a fish fry but I'm pretty sure it was code talk that he had some pot lol.

Great trip report! Sounds like you guys had a blast.

I still miss the old dank Imperial Palace, where Dealertainers danced and the booze flowed like water. That said, the Linq is a'ight. I do think they should have just branded it all O'Sheas.

Agree! Five Guys has a good burger.

Oh, man. I always tell people that the Kentucky you see on TV and in the movies is a different country that is bordered on the north by I-64 and on the west by I-75. My best friend married a gal from Pahkvul. They've since divorced -- she had issues, believe it or not :) "It's been a month of Sundays since we done seent mama'nem. Better leave early 'cause they live a right smart piece down the road. Better fill up before we leave town 'cause gas is higher than a cat's ass once you get out in the country."

I worked in Syracuse NY for a while and I'd give my employees English-to-southern translations. That got a kick out of that.

One other thing about EKY.... We live in BG. Wifey and I made our first trip east 18 years ago just to kill time on a Sunday when the weather was nice and we had nothing else to do. I had never felt more isolated and far away from home as I did on that day. I'd been lost in the bad parts of East St. Louis IL (dunno if there are any good parts) and still wasn't as nervous as I was in Harlan County.
