Is El Cortez cutting back on the comps at least for table players? I went from tier 2 down to tier 1 even though my play is the same as last year.

You referring to the comp $$ on the card or room offers/FP/food or both?

Semi-hijack (sorry)... but has anyone received their El-Co July mailer yet?
I want to stay there for my July trip, but when I called, they said I'd have to wait for the July offers to come out.
If I don't have the same offers in July, that's fine, but I want to know so that I can start looking at my alternatives.

No and based on their schedule of offer releases it will likely not come until June if I am not mistaken. I think the spring ones for April-June came out in March, and summer offers for July-September will presumably come early June.

I too called and was told you had to wait...which is strange because I have had reservation reps there who were super friendly and offered a much better rate via casino rate versus the normal offer which includes food. Seems strange you have to possibly book within a month of a strip if waiting on an offer.

    I'm referring to room offers/FP/food.

    @topcard
Wishman35 is right. Expect to get it in early June.

I used to play mostly BJ and was lucky to get free rooms at all, I went crazy one time and played ultimate X VP and I now get rooms, $50 food and free play. Give them a couple hr's (or more) or vp/slots and you'll be good to go.

The El Co is one place I've never had issues getting comps. I can't even spend all the $$ I have available. Hopefully, that doesn't change.

Its inflation as the comp room value increases every year. If your play is the same then you overall comp looks less because more comps are needed to pay off the room. So less remaining for food and FP. You would need to increase play to offset the room value increase.

I agree about the inflation. We moved to El Cor around 2007 and you could get a vintage room for under twenty bucks. Then the recession in 2008 kept the rooms cheap and the comps easy. Now with renovations on the property, the invigoration of East Fremont and the improved economy all hotel rooms are more expensive. I added a Saturday stay to a three night comp and it still cost me 90 bucks, and Nords booked it for me.

I play blackjack exclusively and have given El Cortez two 3-4 hour sessions in the last three years with average bets right around $100 a hand and have received ZERO comped room offers...only discounts and some BOGO deals. My best friend runs $100 a day through their video poker machines (coin-in obviously higher than $100) and gets treated like he owns the joint.

Funny, I've played and played here and have yet to receive anything from them, either in email or mail form. I've verified all addresses, but nothing. I can get free rooms at Boyd and lower Caesar properties for the same play, but here, not a peep.

Ugh. I somehow lost my mailer and now am going to Vegas in June - has anyone had any success getting the offer without having the code from the mailer?

If you lost your mailer the players club should have your code. The desk used to ask for the mailer at check in, but the mailer doesn’t specify this any more. If you qualify for one of the old coupon offers! Like 5X points the club will have that as well.

Thanks --- that's helpful. I'm usually so organized about my mailers - no clue where this one wandered off to.

Playing 3 hr's once a year might not be enough, but if you can afford to play $100 a hand you can feed a couple hondos into a machine and see what happens, I'd be willing to bet you would get free rooms if you'd do that.

I would also add that they do seem to sweat the money somewhat, and they do watch for counters, assuming you're a good player they might not want your type of play.

Do not feel alone... I had years of play at the El Co...nothing huge, mind you, but many, many hours per trip, probably averaging about $18-$20 a hand...and nothing...for 13 years...until spring of this year...I cannot explain it, but I hope they keep coming...if they let me, I'll be using my first El Co comp ever on my July trip.

similar situation here. not 13 years, but many years and I got my first offer in the spring of this year. did it take them that long to investigate me? I guess my background check has cleared.

I'm thinking that it's probably been a "blackjack" thing...90% of my play has been blackjack (their double-deck game), and the other 10% has been low-limit craps.
With their advantageous rules, I think they know that their edge is quite small & "advantage play" must always be a concern to them.
I'm just glad that, for whatever reason, they seem to have lightened up a bit & they're interested in some of us outcasts now!

It must be table games that give such low comps. I play vp and slots, probably $5k to $10k a day. I emailed them off their website and was comped a design a suite just by asking. You might email them and give it a week. I got a response from the hotel manager.
