The Barbary Dogs are from Eatwell in the Cromwell. Very solid value at just $5 for the three mini-dogs and a soft drink.

Based on your trip reports, you would LOVE Frankie's. DO IT!

"Cramped" is too strong of a word. They aren't big but I wouldn't call it cramped. I thought it was very reasonable for the property. It's not luxury, but you aren't staying at the Cromwell for "luxury". I'd recommend it.

Enjoyed your report and photos, thanks, and looking forward to reading your next one, whether live or not. I bet you will not be taking your aunts to Opium. :D

    Thanks for the report.

I'm sorry to hear the $1 HH at Cromwell was a bust. I've only been once --- and there was only one server there that time as well, but she was like a super hero. We ended up having 4 rounds and could have gotten a fifth in if we wanted - I was amazed at how quickly they were getting drinks out.

It was brutal. We would have likely not been served for the entire hour if we had waited for her to come around.

Adding insult to injury - the lines at the bar were painfully slow. The two people in front of me both paid with a credit card. The bill for the guy immediately in front of me? $2.

Hahahah. My aunt tried to pay with a CC --- I was like, dude, the bill is $3/round --- it HAS to be easier to pay cash! We were there very shortly after the deal started so I'm guessing it's only gotten busier since - I actually can't believe that it's lasted this long.

I agree - it's a good promotion to get people in the door. The band was pretty mediocre, but it didn't matter, people were clearly enjoying it and having a good time. I'm sure it won't last forever.

... and yes, cash! I just tossed the guy a fiver for our two drinks, took mere seconds.

Also - they were out of Goose, had to settle for Ketel!

HH at Cromwell was significantly busier on our second visit. Luckily the waitress remembered us from our first visit, and we got a triple order from her in a short time.

They now have an after HH deal (7 to 8) for $3 drinks from the same menu.

We are also fans of the mini dogs.

Your precise recall and detailed trip report might indicate you didn't drink your fair share of alcohol. Loved your pics and commentary especially places off the strip that we haven't tried!

I've had the lobster pot pie at Mina's twice and it was awesome - but did they change the presentation? Mine didn't look anything like the pics, it was an actual pot pie with crust on top? It's been way too long, I need to get back there and try the new version!

Thanks for sharing - this was a great read and hope your next trip has some good gambling outcomes for you and the ladies you are taking!!

Thanks for posting those pics of the Bellagio rooms. I haven't stayed there in a long time and they are pretty nice. I like the Cromwell rooms but they are small and pretty dark. The Cromwell's biggest selling point is: Your room to the casino floor in 1 minute! The Cromwell pool on the weekend is also pretty darn swell. It's hard to say this without sounding sexist but...how about if we say it tends to have lots of wonderful looking ladies that a superficial man might find attractive....

I believe it is the same version they had even when the restaurant was called Aqua way back before the two chefs split. I have had it many times but not in the last fifteen years or so. In the photo you see a copper pan, maybe that is where it came. In any case it came in a copper pan covered with the crust. The top crust in the photo is below the lobster and the other stuff. The server came with the car and took the stuff out of the pan and arranged it on your plate. I do think this one in the photo has more stuff than I remember, but I also remember that it was never exactly the same, and once I asked why and the server said the chef uses whatever vegetables he finds fresher or nicer available at the time. I do remember it was delicious. :goofy:

Oh, I drank a ton of booze and didn't detail everything here. BUT, I spaced it out, and drank a ton of water. I'm a bigger guy and my liver is in "fighting shape". :)

This was the "entre" size that was something like a $37 add-on to the pre-theater menu. They cut the top of the pastry off the sauce pan and put it on the plate before spooning everything on top of it. I think one of the multi-course tasting menus has a smaller version of the Pie

This is exactly how it happened. They even put a smaller copper pan for you to put the shells in as you eat.

I will say that this is the second time that I have had the Lobster Pot Pie and the portion this time seemed bigger. I definitely got my money's worth. I think I should have passed on the tartare (and add-on charge) and went with the artichoke soup that my buddy had. It looked to be the superior appetizer.

Thanks for refreshing me @spicole and @luridludicloco - I just didn't remember it being that colorful and huge even though I had the regular size, yours looks like the server was a pro, mine were served a bit more rustic after the crust was removed. It's been about 4 years or so, another reason for me to refresh my memory in real time! :feedme:

Next time you go, you have to get one of their chocolate chip cookies. You will thank me later.

I answered your comments because at first sight I thought too that the picture showed a dish that was much huger than I remembered, but I think here there is the case of how a photo can deceive. The plate they use is large, but not gigantic, as one can tell by comparing it to the other objects on the table. The camera took a close up (closer than the close up of Gloria Swanson in Sunset Boulevard) of the dish such as not the whole plate fits inside the frame. You can see the diameter of the crust is about half that of the plate, and from the claw (it seems it was a normal lobster, less than two pounds) you can get a proportional idea of the size of the serving. It is not skimpy, but it is neither gargantuan. Me too, I want to have it again and refresh my memory in real gustatory time :D:feedme::goofy:.
