    My Trip Report

As the title says, I am attempting my first trip report so please be patient and kind! :) I know that a semi-live report can be challenging, but I promise to do my best and not abandon this the minute we land!

Here is a quick rundown of the basics:

    FLIGHT:
Flying SW out of Hartford, non-stop. We leave a 1:00 and land at 3:30 Vegas time. I didn't do EB and ended up getting B48/49. :( A little nervous we might get stuck in middle seats. We are not checking any bags, we each have a carry on and backpack. First time trying this.

    HOTEL:
Fri - Mon at Silverton. First time staying here, but we played here on our last trip. Have to pay $29/$19 for Fri/Sat and Sun is comped. They are waiving resort fee and providing fridge at N/C. Have $90 in slot play and $50/$25 in food vouchers. Looking forward to trying somewhere new. :D On Monday, we move to MSS for 4 nights. Both K and I have comped rooms for all 4 nights so we will try to get adjoining rooms for a little "mini-suite". We each have $75 food credit and K has $75 slot play and I have $50.

    TRANSPORTATION:
Rental car through Advantage for the Silverton part of the stay, will return it at MSS on Monday. $73 for the 3 days. Will use the car to head to various off strip properties on Sat/Sun. Once we are downtown, we will either Uber or Bus if we feel the need to go anywhere else.

    GAMBLING:
We are pretty much strictly VP players, with an occasional slot mixed in. Hoping the Boar bar is back in full swing by then with no stink! I play poker as well - cash and tournaments, I'd like to try the 6 pm tourney at Southpoint Sunday night and I'l probably play a few at the GN once downtown. Cash games will just be wherever and whenever the moods strikes. :poker:

Time to finish up the packing and head to the airport! Beyond excited!!!!!!! :woohoo:

Wish me luck - on the gambling and on the trip report!! ;)

I have never stay at the Silverton but i go almost every trip to walk around Bass pro. Then of course i find myself thirsty so i spend an hour or two in the casino. I don't think i have come out of there down yet. I wonder how the restaurants are.

Good luck! I have a comped room booked for the end of my solo trip in June. Have stayed or visited the Silverton every trip for the last several years. The casino has always been good to me!

After an annoying but uneventful ride to the airport we are having a pre-boarding beverage. 45 minutes until boarding!

Have a great time. It's been a while since we stayed at Silverton, but we enjoyed our stay.

We scored an aisle and window seat in row 3. Opposite sides of the plane but no biggie. Skinny normal seat mates. Also will be a quick exit!

I believe you will like the Silverton,, it's on the smaller side(which I like) and the people were friendly....great beds and the cafe has a mean ham steak and eggs... no poker and the sportsbook isn' the best but you'e close to SP and The M for that. If you like Sushi id suggest Jaydze(sp) at the M, one of my favorite hidden jewels in vegas

I know, who takes pics of THAT? Dudes and dudettes the mind has a tendency to not recall. Phone cameras came just in time. Carry on.

The Silverton has THEE most comfortable beds in LV. I was double booked there and a full suite at Harrah's on my last trip. I stayed at Silverton leaving the suite empty because the bed just didn't compare. As for vp, check www.vpfree2.com for the best games. I mostly play at the $ level and they have a shit-load of 8/5 BP games which works for me. Even better are the $.25 loose deuces wild. I find both of these games acceptable. They don't have any 9/6 JoB.
At the MSS you will find my two favorite games: $ 9/6 JoB and $.25 STP 9/6 DDB. I couldn't pick two better casinos to gamble/stay at on a trip to LV!

So, we arrived safely. Flight was uneventful. Rental car experience and hotel checkin both had issues. K had some great VP wins including 4A on his first $20. Will post details tomorrow. Dead tired right now. Posting the obligatory snacks on the plane pic, Grand Canyon pic, and the VP hit. Notice only one A was held !

Ok so somehow that post from last night got stuck in drafts and never posted. I'll figure this out eventually! At least I'm trying!! And before anyone asks why the vp win says 923, I took the picture while it was still counting up.

Renting from Advantage was not so great. Usually use Budget and only picked Advantage because rate was good and can return car to MSS. Only one counter person working and we were about 4th in line. Waited about 30 minutes. Wasted the time we saved by carryons only and skipping the baggage carousel! Had to pay an extra $12 per day to add K as extra driver. And she tried to sell us all the usual crap - insurance, gas etc. She was way to chatty which didn't help with the long line. Anyway, we raced out of there in our Kia Optima, did a quick Target trip, and headed to the Silverton. To be continued........

Correct me if I am mistaken, but I believe Nevada is one state (of six states) where rental car companies are precluded from upcharging for a spouse to be an extra driver on a contract. It is not clear if K is your spouse or not, although in these days it is entirely possible (although perhaps illegal) to present anybody as a spouse.

Maybe you can request that $12 per day be refunded when you return the vehicle.

Good luck on the rest of your trip.
