Looking For Input Re "M" Or Red Rock

I have decided to explore either "M" or Red Rock on my next trip; which will be a road trip to Vegas - been way too long since a road trip from MN! Looking for input between the two - which has been such a hard decision for me; yet I'm leaning toward the "M"! Thanks!

 

The area around Red Rock has a lot more to offer, both in terms of natural scenery and restaurants/shopping. The M is kind of out in the middle of nowhere!

I agree, The red rock has many more options in the neighborhood. Many shopping options (Summerlin Mall is nice) , golf and scenery to explore. The M is just as nice casino but that is all that is there. I would say the M has lower stakes than Red Rock. Last I was at Red Rock the BJ was $10 min and not best rules. M has decent BJ games. Both have nice pools and food options.

 

Since you're coming by car, there's no reason why you can't explore both of them!

My "home" Station property is Palace Station, and I've tried playing at Red Rock and GVR to no avail, and from what I've read, getting Red Rock as a "home" Station property is going to require some significant financial investment on your part. I just did the M Resort about a month ago as sort of an exploratory visit, and based off the first mailer I received from them, it appears as if I will have to contact a host if I decide I want to stay there. With a limited inventory of rooms, they can be somewhat more selective in extending offers, but I will call and ask to see if something is doable with them. Some posters complain about M's location, but with a rental car, South Point, GVR, and Silverton are alternatives should one decide to play elsewhere.

 

By EXPLORE; I meant which one to stay at, as I like to take five or six nights and really become familiar w a new place. The last place I “explored” was the Wynn last March; I liked it but the gambling was not good.

I appreciate everyone’s input! It seems so far Red Rock has the vote! However I like that someone said BJ was better at the M; as that’s my game!

I generally stay at the M when I visit. I get similar offers from Red Rock and I find them mostly comparable but the gambling is usually better at M. Red Rock has better food options IMO. I used to love Jade Fusion at the M but they changed the menu about. Year or so ago and it’s not really to my taste anymore. The buffet at M is larger, has more choices, and has complimentary beer/wine, but RR buffet is basically as good at half the price, although at M, if you get 300-400 points it nets you the buffet for free.

 

While I've never stayed at Red Rock I have played there and enjoyed it. My cousin LOVES Red Rock and they always stay there. Their "go to" place was Wynn before they discovered their love for Red Rock.

 

Pretty much agree with the above. Within the past 16 mos, I've stayed Red Rock once and visited M once. Red Rock was livelier and there was more to do on property and in the vicinity, including Suncoast and Rampart in addition to the above. M was reserved, dignified and classy, but not alot to see and do down there. The pool atmosphere was great at RR. I did not see the one at M.

IMO, spending 5 or 6 days on an exploratory trip to M or RR is quite different than Wynn. Neither will offer anywhere near the room choices, dining and on-site amenities; much less what is available in the vicinity. Splitting 3 nights at each for an exploratory trip might be the way to go.

Gaming is definitely a consideration, so you are right to closely look at the rules. As are loyalty programs. Stations is pretty much geared for LV locals with locations only in So. NV. M is Marquee, which has locations across the country. If you enjoyed Wynn, M may come closer in terms of elegance, but, again, it is isolated. Since RR was such an enjoyable stay, it still gets my vote.

 

RR is my favorite LV property. I love it. I have stayed at M and usually stop in every trip for a free buffet and some free play offered. Both are very close in luxury feel. I would agree with gs32794 that if it's an exploratory trip 3 nights at each resort would be best. Also, getting 3 nights comped on play at 2 different resorts is much easier than getting 6 nights comped at one resort.

 

I agree with Smerriam's comment about the number of free nights one can get. You may wish to split your visit. Red Rock is a beautiful property. It is the place we have been staying lately. M is also beautiful in its way, although we find the modern decor cold. While both are miles from the Strip, M is in the middle of nowhere and RR has interesting things to do nearby. M's BJ rules are about as good as one can find in Vegas. RR's low limit tables are 6:5, making the game unplayable. Even at higher minimums, the game is not so good. Video poker is excellent at Red Rock and just adequate at M. Room comps at RR have not been hard for us so far. I haven't stayed at M.

 

Red rocks rooms, even the standard ones are excellent, the beds are the comfiest I have ever tried in Vegas. Overall I think Red Rock is great, although the one disappointment was the steak house, which was not the best value based on the service and food.

 

Red ROCKS!! Red Rock is a beautiful property, both inside and out. It also has a backyard of full of scenic wonders like canyons, hiking trails, waterfalls, and Indian buriel grounds with Petrogyphs, ghost towns, etc.
I'm sure "M" is really nice, but if you have to make a choice between the two, it's a no brainer......Red Rock.

 

Okay ..... well it seems like Red Rocks has the vote w this group; however I had never thought of splitting up the stay (which I typically don’t do for the hassle factor); but maybe three and three makes sense since i will have my vehicle. I think I will do exactly that this fall! Can’t wait! I will let you know which one I liked best! And thanks again for the input....

I've stayed at both with M as recent as last year March. The good thing ab out the M is that comps come considerably easier. Plus I would challenge anyone to say that the regular room at Red Rock is better than your regular room at the M. Separate tub and shower. Sit in shower. Room has beautiful earth tones. I think that the M is one of the better kept secrets in Vegas.

Red Rock has considerably more gam8ng and entertainment options however the M IMHO, is a better deal for the $

 

I was in the standard RR room and it had spa tub and separate shower.

 

gailtherese; I'd be very interested in your assessment when you come back from your trip in the Fall. I, honestly, could flip a coin deciding which resort to stay at.

 

There are actually quite a few dining options not far from the M. Nothing walk-able but with a car you have Maryland and Eastern corridors with hundreds of options. For other casinos South Point and Silverton 5-10 minutes away.
