So, while I stay at the Plaza at every opportunity I can get, I'm considering staying at the California at least once during an upcoming trip.

As we know, they have a pool as in... it exists. But it's not really your "traditional" Vegas pool.

It would not appear that they have drink service there. So, on that basis, what's the deal when it comes to drinks? Bring your own? Not allowed in the first place?

Also curious about how this works at The D, as they seem to have a similarly "basic" pool there too.

Insights on either are much appreciated!

I've brought my own drinks into the pool at The D. The pool is actually a short walk out by the entry for taxi, drop off, limo, etc. NO glass, of course.

My group stays at the CAL every August. Yeah, some folks make fun of how small and plain it is. We love it! Our morning ritual is to start the day off by the pool for several hours. Pros.....wet water, no fighting for lounge chairs, and bring in whatever beverages (other than glass) and food you want.

They dont have drink service at the pool because there's usually no one there.

Thanks! Looks like I might actually be able to sit in one of those wicker ones. The loungers are too low for me to bend down to sit on. Guess we can always go to Plaza and pay 10.00 for their pool/hot tub, wanted to check it out anyway.

I adore the Plaza pool, but I have the same issues with the loungers being too low. (At the D pool too) I keep telling them they need to get some sturdy, higher ones. But the Plaza does have upright chairs I can get in and out of, so that is something.

I looked at the Cal pool once, but never used it. If you start your day at the pool, isn't it all shade since it is on the West side of the West tower?

I think the LV club used to shade it at times, should be sunny now.

Yea but...the sunrise in warm weather pretty much comes due East of the West Tower. Vegas Club was to the South.

No, I pulled that off their website, when I last checked out the pool a couple years back, it didn't look at all like that, far less chairs and one fat guy sitting there(not me of course, I'm chiseled).

I think it is great. Not a bunch of young 'ung's and shady. Not many Hawaiians due to their sun availability but lots of Midwesterners who say what is there to a pool without the loungers you pay for through resort fee. But wait. There's more. California now has a resort fee. Go and partake my lovelies; resort fee includes lounger.
It is nice if just looking to relax. Went and got a ginormous bloody Marie but Oleg vpcan treat you right. But no resort fee was involved. I feel somewhat regal.

Can't wait to check it out. The only time I have ever seen it was last March, when we went on a walkathon in Downtown. Looked out the window at a grey forlorn, closed area, no chairs of course, and the wind was whipping anything not nailed down. LOOKS LOVELY! Hope it isn't too crowded in a few weeks, now that you all have seen how great it is...and are paying a resort fee, so want to get your money's worth!:D

Well, YIKES....just looked at my timer, and it's only a COUPLE of weeks now. Better get my walking shoes on and pack the swimsuit!

If you feel crowded you can sit on opposite sides of the pool and stare at each other. Having said this it will probably be mobbed. But I like going out there with a spirited libation and listening to the hack whack smack of the hammer jack over at the vacant lot. Enjoy and take some pictures.
