Never have stayed at Paris before but thinking of giving it a try in December, so what type of room should I go for, would love to have the view of the fountains, any suggestions ?? Thanks...
Of their standard rooms, I think the Burgundy Eiffel View is the one you want. I think the rooms at the end of the hall are a little bit larger. Are they still called P rooms? Their mid tier room is the Red Room and the Classic Rooms are, well, classic.
Burgundy Rooms are the ones recently remodeled. Here's a pic. This is the Calias Suite we stayed in last month.
So the burgundy rooms are worth the extra money over the red rooms with the same view of the fountains ??
I think the red rooms are fine. I stay in red rooms every year with niece and we’re happy with them. The hubby and I have dated in the same style Calais suite as DJ Ran on the 31st floor with straight on fountain views and loved them, but on our last trip we had a Calais on a lower floor that had not been renovated that was just fine. I’m happy if it’s clean and has a comfy bed. Paris is pretty much our home base.
So if I go with a red room, high floor what are my chances of getting a fountain view ?? Has to be a non smoking room...
Doubt anyone can answer. There is a room type Red Room Eiffel View High Floor. So the one without that designation will not have a guaranteed view. I would plan on not getting one and ask at check in but no guarantees. Red room is fine over burgundy room. I stayed in one and it was just a cosmetic upgrade/refresh. Just don't book the classic room
A view of the fountains also comes with the base of the nightclub if you are there when it is open. We were on about the 26th floor last time we had a view of the fountains and the room reverberated from the base till the night club closed at 4 AM . So if you can deal with that then go for the view
I'm booked into a Red Room and they are fine. I'm going to ask to be bumped to a Burgundy Eiffel View room at check in and see what happens. The Classic Rooms are the oldest and I've heard they can be a little rough around the edges. Booked mom a Burgundy Room.
I stayed in the burgundy room at the end of the hall last year...it's a long walk when you're drunk. My IMO the extra room seems to be in the foyer, so you don't really notice it
The Chateau Niteclub can be very annoying when you are dead tired and still can't fall asleep due to the noise , and Bass. It's worth noting that the club is closed Sun.-Tues. Bob
Which tower/view/floors/etc are affected by this, any idea? I can't imagine the entire hotel shakes, only one wing or side, I am assuming. Good info to know.......
Basically nearly Eiffel Tower view rooms will be affected. The way the rooms spoke out, that would be 25% of the rooms. Rooms facing north will be pretty much blocked by Ballys from noise at Drai's (Cromwell) but depending on angle of your room you may have only a view of the backside of Ballys (that's what I had last trip - very little choice when you book under 2 weeks out). Rooms to the east have no view (other than mountains to the east but I like to leave curtains open and let sunrise come in - so that can be nice). South view can be fairly quiet (except sometimes picks up noise from Cosmo) and you still get some Strip lights.
I would suggest using the $20 sandwich at check in and asking politely if a fountain view is available. Usually works for us.
I travel with a white noise machine that usually drowns out everything, but the last night at Paris (Thurs 3/29) the bass was very loud at the club and the windows and floor in the room were vibrating. I couldn't hear it as much as I could feel it. Had an early morning departure on 3/30 and was not a happy camper when I was laying awake in bed at 3am, waiting for the club to close.
Been there, done that and another person will be in that room with the same noise and report on here not a big deal, could hardly notice.
Pretty sure all "P" rooms are end of hallway rooms but not all end of hallway rooms are "P" rooms. The Burgundy rooms are nicely refreshed and the beds are very comfortable. While I am not a huge fan of the Paris casino or restaurants, the hotel is first class.
