It seems that when a place is destined to close with a replacement named, then it is all over. I have not eaten there but
when they do close, like many other eateries, new place will not be as good or as inexpensive. Prices always go up.
They always have to tinker and not good for the masses.

I have gone there twice and it has been a long time since the last visit but all I remember is not enjoying it very much and the price still being high. I went because I had hotel credit last time and just wasn’t impressed. Decor seemed outdated as well, and the experience wasn’t as upscale as they were attempting to be. Am I on my own?

When you have Mon Ami Gabi across the street not more than a 10 min walk and close to the same prices, I would not go here unless free.

    Signed!

However (comma) I'm not that optimistic on the chances. I know the timelines of typical projects of this type, and by the time a public announcement is made, the ship has not only sailed, but it's out of sight of port on the high seas and past the point of no return. Certainly various contracts for demo and build-out, as well as subs, have been let, with significant penalties and forfeitures for noncompliance. My hunch is that this is also moving from in-house to an outsourced operation, and since the (new) tenant has been named, very few things could be done to stop it! :(

    Good luck, anyway.

    /me cares, actually!

The independent casino coffee shop has been on the Critically Endangered list for several years now, and to lose another one, particularly one of the better ones, is anything but a Good Thing! :(

I get that people care and are enthusiastic about their favorites. I don't get the love for a café that charges center strip prices for typical food that you can get for half the price off the strip with no decrease in quality. I agree that the new place will be worse, based on prior experience.

It would be different if we were talking about a place that was unusually reasonable for the location, or had great specials.

I see, with the exception of dmr, the VMB support group is out in full force!!! If this place was at the Ellis Island, we'd be organizing pickets!!!

I stayed at Bellagio too many times. To have a reasonable breakfast
(unless you just order 1 croissant for a breakfast) or lunch,
the price you have to pay at the Cafe is not much cheaper than their buffet.
I just go to the buffet.

Exactly, as did I, but it doesn’t seem like others are very supportive.

If it doesn’t work out, I will still be excited to try this new restaurant which is supposedly a New York specialty. Seems MGM is making an effort to bring hip regional restaurants to the Strip and I like that idea a lot.

I guess we're gonna have to wait then, until the specialty regional restaurant known as the "Vintage Las Vegas Casino Coffee Shop" becomes hip enough, huh? :(

I think the strip has imported enough hip restaurants from NY to last a generation. Bring in places from other regions - I'm down with that but enough with concepts from NY and LA already. And especially not at the resort with the pronounced Italian theme.

I don't know about saving Cafe Bellagio but I do think the casino operators need to have a better appreciation for the coffee shop. For folks who don't want to wait in line for overpriced buffets, they are a godsend for having a nice variety of offerings that can appeal to multiple tastes.

Again, I'm only trying to look on the bright side! If you're looking for a Vintage Las Vegas Coffee Shop, Palio offers excellent coffee, pastries, sandwiches, and is only a few feet from the elevator bank so easily accessible to hotel guests - I worked in a specialty coffee shop in Chicago and have to say I was impressed by the quality and the service here. I can still taste and crave the croissant sandwich I had in February!

Sadelle's menu also looks very promising and even comparable to that of Cafe Bellagio. There is only speculation that it will be more expensive - but one thing is for sure - Sadelle's has received much more praise from food critics!

I don't mean any disrespect and appreciate that this restaurant obviously holds a lot of sentimental value!

Wait a minute. People have a sentimental connection to Cafe Bellagio? Seriously?
