Used to be one of my favorite websites to get Vegas info on the hotels/casinos, and low-rollin' in general. At some point it appears they sold out (or they chose to do a boring overhaul of their site with a lot more referral links)... and it hasn't been updated in forever now (still has Riviera, "Imperial Palace", "Hilton", etc). Seems like a lot of good work has went to waste.

I used to love their offbeat reviews, I think they were sold to an outfit that only cares about the ads, not the content, they're no longer relevant.

Stinky died; after that i think they lost interest and eventually sold the domain.
They were some pretty hilarious shit though...old school joints like that are fading fast (just found out that my favorite; Carson Nugget in Carson City recently remodeled!)
All that’s really left is El Cortez and Club Cal-Neva

Red it somewhere, don't remember the detail any more.
Many years ago, it had pretty good traffic.
So someone bought the site, but not the person(s) working on it
And the rest is what you see.

I used to love Cheapo, learned a lot over the years. I am a pefect example of enjoying Vegas on the cheap, even on the Strip. I'm frugal with by non gambling money. I'm a low roller but navigate my way around to earn free rooms and discounted and/or non existant resort fees.
Cheapo doesn't mean cheap..........it means planning your budget in the best possible way to enjoy Vegas while at the same time even coming out ahead during your stay.

The trip reports were priceless. I was moved to tears and very nearly wet myself a couple times from laughing.

It was an awesome site before Stinky died. Between the trip reports and the rating systems...it was an education.

That was a GREAT site! I was unaware that one of the guys passed on. :(

Faves of all times were the reports on the Western and the pranks they played at Vegas World. :)

I know this is trivial, but they had the most accurate "Things you get bottles of in the bathroom" reports that I've ever seen! :)

I loved their ratings of hotel room furnishings by how hard they were to steal. I also loved their hotel graveyard.

It was fun back in the day. Now you need the wayback machine to view it properly.

The best thing was you could get all kinds of info when the web wasn't as fully fleshed out as it is now. Researching our first trip in 2004 you couldn't even make direct bookings on half the hotel pages. You had to call the 800#. I booked our trip way stupid early off Expedia and started researching afterwards. Don't act shocked, y'all know I'm a moron. Our original booking was for the Key Largo. And I was horrified after I found cheapovegas and found out more about Key Largo. Then I found out they would be closing a few days after our departure. Expedia was nice enough to change the booking to the Orleans. But, each one of those sites, like the one for Key Largo and the one for the Orleans was basically a landing page with a few bits of info and a few pictures and that was it. And that was normal. So, sites like cheapo and message boards was how you got information. Cheapo was the brutal truth. Like Sophia on the Golden Girls-no edit button-foul mouthed truth. And it was hilarious.

@TIMSPEED The Carson Nugget was my first comp. Some time around 87or 88 the wife and I got away to Reno, drove Virginia City and played at Carson Nugget. Got Mailer on a fancy card for a free night which we used the next year on our first trip to Las Vegas.

I do that for the nostalgia.

I also do that for Cheapo Reno as I've been in just about every casino hotel in Reno and I enjoy the walk down memory lane.
