This is making the rounds (again) on some of the photo boards.

If you have not taken this before, you may find it to be interesting. Yes, I know it's far from controlled laboratory conditions, but it's fun and interesting.

If you want to, post your results here. If you don't want to, then, well,. don't. :)

    Enjoy! :)

Amazes me as I am legally blind in my left eye:hmmm: (due to viral intra-ocular neuritis back in 99).
Thought that might work against me for color accuracy but guess not. :)

I got a zero, and I am convinced I am blue green deficient based on past experiences. Is a zero telling me that the contrary is true?

Hmm. Or maybe I'm fine with hues and just not differentiation.

    I'm glad everyone liked that.

I've taken that test countless times and when I'm on a workstation in a dimly-lit room I can almost always get it perfect.

When I posted that last night, I tried it on the netbook which I have with me. I first got 2. I turned off the room lights and tried again and nailed it. One thing I noticed is that when I was "remoted in" to my home machine the response was a bit slow and it would not always properly swap two swatches. I tried it directly and the response was much better.

I've found that it makes quite a difference what type of machine you are on. For an interesting test, try it on a desktop and a laptop and see the difference. I'm sure just about every office has one dim ratty old laptop that nobody wants sitting around. Try it on that one and see how you do. :)

A couple of hints here. First, dimly-lit room. Second, when you think you have it perfect, look from a distance, you may see some obvious errors. Third, if two swatches look too close to tell, swap them. You'll see then that they are not too close to tell. :)

As an aside here, the company that sponsors that test (X-rite) is the one that currently has the rights to produce the well-know MacBeth ColorChecker, which is a very frequently-seen color test chart.

In the two images below, the top one I'm gonna call the "control", and comes from that Ultimate Authority of All Things, Wikipedia. :) You can see it's obviously lit by direct sunlight, which is (one of) the way(s) it's intended to be used. The bottom shot is one I took last summer when I was trying out a new (to me) film, Svema (Ukranian) for those who care. That again was direct sunlight. That film has a "pastel" bias and it's obvious from the chart.

The bottom row of the ColorChecker is grey-scale, from tone-without-texture almost-white to tone-without-texture almost-black. Third row is primary additive and subtractive colors, and the top two rows are more or less real-world colors. The RGB values of each swatch are published and you can easily compare.
