Just wondering if anyone has been there yet, I think they are open. My Atlantis host just moved there.

I'm really interested in checking it out. Hoping they give Atlantis some competition. If you could pm me your hosts info that would be great. Have status at Atlantis so I'd like to see if they could match or beat their offers.

It's literally just opened in the past few days. They are doing invite-only preview bookings right now. Regular bookings start on May 29th. The whole Baha Mar development has been on-again, off-again for years so this is the first true signs of life we've seen. Lots of folks are interested in how things go.

I really hope they make it.
    Been to Atlantis many times.
Beautiful property but they know know they have a monopoly in Nassau/PI.
Some competition would be great for us.

How far is it from the port, compared to Atlantis?
(I may find myself coming into Nassau on another big boat this summer.) :D
    Thanks!

The competition should be good for the Atlantis...get them to update the facilities quicker and hopefully bring the rates down a bit!

It is further from the cruise port than Atlantis. Maybe twice the time it takes to get to Atlantis if I had to guess. It's closer to the airport though.

Bahamar is much closer to the airport, you don't have to go into town and over the bridge like when you are going to Atlantis

Actually at Atlantis, this week for a couple of days, Gambling has been tough, slots tighter then usual. Slots that my wife plays are horrible, card readers not working ,ticket out not working,. you have to wait for hand pays on the bank she is playing, even $5. So we went to Bahamar to see our Atlantis host who is now there. What a great guy, gave us a tour of the property, (only Grand Hyatt open now) It is beautiful, Only a couple of restaurants open right now, more opening every week.

I will tell you when this property is done it will make Atlantis look second rate. The Casino is gigantic, our host said largest in Carribean, All new machines, all kinds Video poker and all the new slot themes.
Pool area is amazing, Really nice property, next visit we will be staying there.

Stayed at Royal Towers. We went at night to see it, so don't really know. I think if we had come in the day, probably could have used the pools, our host was extremely proud to show us the hotel and I think we could have used the facilities no problem. Lots of the Hyatt are still being finished, very few restaurants open.
    Taxi was 35-40 each way
    No fish fry sorry.
good trip, not winning by any stretch, but relaxing.
Atlantis staff are extremely friendly now, even got offered a late check-out without asking, lol.

    Hi folks,

Kind of being lazy and reviving this thread instead of starting a new one.

Just returned from a quick trip to Nassau where I stayed at the Grand Hyatt. Took the 7am out Sat morning and returned late Tuesday. That was lots of time. The hotel, the grounds, the pools and beach where all immaculate. The casino and and facility are all fairly new. The rooms are quite comfortable with a good bed, and awesome shower. All of the fixtures are new. The casino itself is very bright and actually has windows to the pools and fountains. The weather was spectacular with a little cloud each day, otherwise sunny and in the 80's. The food was also excellent. Lots of very friendly staff and around.

The place isn't cheap. and the "nickel and diming" adds up. Basic balcony room is about $375 per night (rack rate not casino). The levy and VAT add another 18% plus a resort fee of $32.50 per day. The resort is cash free (sans the gambling) so all food, services etc are charged to your room. Keeping in mind you pay the tax and 15% service charge on all items charged to your bill. Imagine my surprise when I take an $8.00 beer from the mini-bar and then, an additional $1.20 service charge on my self service item? Anyways, instead of going on and on about costs, just beware it is very expensive.

The slot machines were okay. I was hoping to hit a "hand pay" equivalent or two, this trip but biggest single win on a slot machine was $700. Backjack rules were decent, shoe blackjack, 3:2 and H17. The double deck game only paid 6:5. Table minimum were $25 with a few $50 min tables on Saturday night. The high limit room was at $300 min on Saturday night and $100 other times. Drink service at the tables were excellent, and little more spotty at the slots. My coin in for the three days was about 20K and I manage to hang on to about 19 of it. I would play about 1- 2 hours a day of blackjack, $100 per hand and often two hands.

In summary, I loved the weather, the facility was beautiful and the gambling was nicer that home but not Las Vegas. I can see returning mostly in the winter months before Vegas has the guaranteed weather. The flight for me is a little over half of what it is to get to Las Vegas.

    And the numbers would read:

$2,150 in food, rooms and taxes, services fees, transportation, etc.
$ 540 in comps off that bill, and invite from a host to contact him directly next visit.

Given that it is still snowing and just below freezing here in the Great White North, decided for a last minute trip back to Baha Mar. Leaving Friday morning 7:40 am and hope to be poolside about 11am. Air Canada areoplan miles are covering the flight and a host is covering the room. Looking forward to warm sun, oceanside drinks and a little luck at the tables in the evening!
