First of all I'm grateful for all the wonderful folks on VMB that lift each other up and make us laugh and are all part of team Vegas in one way or another.

Lots of skips in following VMB lately, I'm presently in Nashville, 4th trip in two months. Had to cancel my January Vegas trip so I will be grateful to get back there for sure.

I'm grateful that my oldest sister, who survived two colon cancer surgeries six months apart a year ago, then fell while suffering a major heart attack in December, and while in CCU for a week and hospital for another 2 weeks had pneumonia and flu at the same time and finally sent to rehab, and just now has returned to her home. Sadly her husband suffered a fall, was hospitalized for 3 weeks in a different hospital, also contracted flu and pneumonia, became extremely depressed and refused to eat or drink, was diagnosed as neuroligically unresponsive with only a short time left to live. Rather than going to a hospice facility I was able to have him discharged to the same rehab facility as my sister and they got to spend almost a week together before he passed away. They were married 62 years.

I'm especially grateful I have a supportive husband who has helped every step of the way and grateful that I am able to help my sister as she works through this sad time. She is the best big sister in the world and quite a bit older than I. She guided me from childhood through the teen years and kept me on the straight and narrow! There were 8 of us minions so my mom relied on her to be a second mom - a bossy second mom I might add. Her nickname for me is 'the brat', can't imagine how that came about! o_O

Looking forward to getting back more frequently in a few weeks - in the meantime, thank you @Richard Alpert and @ardee for the mentions and snow pics! Next to hot tea, snow is my favorite thing - so relaxing.
Waiting to see how dear @Richard Alpert ties these two together :haha:

@ardee - this is a great thread with funny and thoughtful responses.

Blessings and best wishes to you, @Geogran!
Nice to hear from you!

Here are a couple more relaxing snow pics for you.
I was out cleaning up the rest of Thursday night's snow and getting ready for this afternoon's helping of snow.
It's the calm before the storm right now!

Again, I wish you the best.
Your family is so blessed to have you and your husband during times like these.
    I wish you continued strength.
    You are truly amazing! :D

Your loved ones have gone through so much lately, @Geogran. So very sorry to hear that.
Being there for them with love and support is what makes for a strong family.
So happy and grateful to see you got a few moments to come and check out the good ol' VMB.
I'm hoping and wishing you'll be able to get back to Vegas when you're ready and one day we'll
be able to meet there and I'll give you a giant hug for luck. :blowkiss:

I’m grateful for finding these goofy fuzzy-slippers on the discount rack at the local Rite Aide. I love ‘em.

    Good stuff, ardee. Top drawer!!

I'm grateful to be sitting here writing about a game, a recreation, and being paid to do so. And my view of great open spaces of green hills, vineyards, fields and oaks provides a nice counterpoint to a world gone manic too often.

And I'm thankful that life is such that resort fees, baggage charges and the like can actually be a bother and an affront. My god I know I (have the luxury to) whine about some idiotic stuff.

    Life. Is. Good.

To my parents.......all the lessons, the kindness, and the patience to raise me to be a self sufficient human. Without that initial launch and those tools I have no idea where I would be.

My mother taught me finance, budgeting, living within one’s means, sacrifice, and the art of saving for that rainy day that inevitably comes.

My father taught me engineering, construction, mechanical repair, and an unending respect for our natural world and conservation of the earth’s limited resources.

Between the two of them I learned to appreciate education, oppurtunity, beauty, tolerance, manners, dignity, and love.

I have certainly faultered on every one of these things at some point, but will always be grateful I have had those lessons to help me along the way.

I try to reflect each day and be grateful for everything, but today I'm focusing on my wife. She's awesome.
