My son hasn,t been able to get to Vegas for the last 3 years due to work commitments. When he looked to see if he had any offers on T R.he found he had been downgraded to gold from Platinum. Is there any way he can get it restored ? Any ideas would be welcome

Tier doesn't matter to offers. About the only thing platinum gets him is free parking in vegas.

He also didn't "lose" it, it expired.

The best answer would be "don't bother". Tell him to search hotel rates with his TR # (could still have discounts or comps), and just play how he wants to.

Sorry, my original comment was rude and thoughtless and has been deleted.

Level gets you access, play gets you offers, and CET Platinum doesn't get you much besides free parking.

    He didn’t lose anything.
He just has to earn his tier status every year.

Platinum is worthless. They hand it out to everybody and it doesn't give any significant perks. Don't worry about it.

OP did not mention this in his initial post, but he is in the UK. It is my understanding that Comenity Bank (TR VISA card issuers) will not issue a card to people living outside the US.

Before you call around, to be clear, there is zero chance of a phone call being placed that would lead to anyone ever pushing a button and making your kid Platinum again after 3 years of never showing up to play. So forget about that.

Have you/they looked at the room calendar? If Total Rewards knows their rated play, you might still have free rooms. Just click on that and look at your dates. Almost everyone gets a free room. They are like Oprah "You get a Room! And You get a Room! You all get a Free Room!"

If that fails, and you are still set on getting a room for free, or at least discounted, google where you want o stay and add the word "Hosts" IE Flamingo Las Vegas Hosts. Don't worry about the phone bill, send out a free well written email saying what you want, who you are and include the players card number.

No offense, but having a Platinum card many years ago equates to nothing for any host in Vegas. And sadly the same can be true for players in another country that only visit a few times in a decade. It is just not the sort of blood they are looking to draw, and most wont put too much time into it.

I'd say that sums it up. "Platinum" sounds good to the ear, but in real terms doesn't mean much at all. The casino rewards philosophy is that they want you coming back, returning to the scene of the crime, to part with ever more folding green. If you haven't visited - IN YEARS - you can see how the term 'valued customer' might not be applicable. I think the TR website might be your best contact option. As for the 'free phone'...would you not be able to dial the US country code, and then the 8xx number, like this : 001-866-506-3454 (int'l identifier '00', '1' US country code, xxx-xxx-xxxx actual number)? [the 866-506-3454 number is shown at the bottom of the Total Rewards website: https://www.caesars.com/total-rewards .

What Grid said, unfortunately. In order to maintain his Platinum tier level, your son would have had to gamble enough to earn that status every single year. If he hasn't been to Vegas in three years, he has probably been Gold for the last couple of years and just didn't notice because he hasn't been on the website to plan a trip.

Yep, yep and yep. Your son's best bet is to log into the TR website and see if he has any offers and what the rates are on the calendar. I haven't put in any play in over a year and currently have zero points, but I have several dates with $0 rooms available at a wide variety of hotels. It's not going to be the top tier hotels, but I have them at Paris.

If there are no offers or low rates on the calendar, then may be worth the investment in a phone call to talk to a host who might be able to work some magic and get an offer for comped rooms, based on past play in the casino.

Your son might only be Gold in CET's eyes, but I can tell he will always be a 7 Star in your heart.

Ultimately, what shouldn't be lost here is that platinum at CET means nothing really. Not trying to sound like a jerk but I had it for a while and it bestowed nothing on me save for more losses acquiring it in the first place. I'm lowly gold but get the same room offers and occasional food I did before.

I'd say that's accurate. I'm pretty sure we were bumped from Gold to Platinum because we signed up for some sort of offer on our first day there.

UPDATE: As of 02/15/18, I have been relegated to 'gold' status as well. You know, now that I think about it, for no more than once per year to Vegas, I'm not sure there's real value to TR.

Now to be fair, not everyone Vegas's the same way. Maybe Team TOUR spends a ton of money in the gift shops, and that 15% discount does add up fast. On a $1,000 tab of Diet Cokes and Pringles, plus some novelty shirts, That is $150.00 in their pocket! At Caesars, if they rent an RV, that is $25 a day to park! On a 10 day stay that would be $250 in free parking! And don't they still have Platinum Line cutsies at the buffets? That's free time gained in Vegas!
