How do they compare to other properties for VP?

I can't get on their radar. Last year, I ran $5k through VP and $2.5k through slots over about a 4 hour session. Not a single mailer even though I checked at the player's club to ensure my address was correct. Loads of full pay VP and great graveyard specials at Coronado Cafe are reason enough for me to visit every now and again.

That is disappointing to hear. I was hoping to "seed" some money there in hopes of getting some offers for my next trip.

Others have had luck contacting hosts. You might be just under the radar- can't say for sure because it has been a few years. I had a host for a while, but was uncomfortable playing as much as she wanted me to on losing trips. No problem if I was winning and bumped up from quarters to 50 cents and an occasional dollar.

Do you happen to recall the amount of play they wanted in relation to what comps they offered?

Sorry, I never keep close enough track to tell you a number, and have found that hosts generally prevaricate about it. I play as long as it's fun and hope for the best. Very unscientific estimate would be 3 hours at quarters is not enough, while 3 hours at 50 cents would do it. My table play at SP has been sporadic, so I can't figure that in accurately at all. Maybe someone else can help you.

It's been reported by many people that you need to be either a local or having a big loss to get offer from SP.

Don't let the cheap rooms fool you: South Point is a tough room comp to get. You'll get free rooms/resort credit/ free play at nice places on the Strip (including Mandalay Bay) for the action it takes to get on South Point's radar. "M" Resort is a far easier comp along with any of the Boyd properties if you like an off-strip experience.

That's quite alright. I'm sure that the hosts don't give you a direct answer while they are thinking "play more".

Thanks for the tip about the M Resort. I haven't been out there in a few years after the VP got worse but it has improved. As a VP player, I would have no interest in Mandalay Bay but that is good information.

Given that everyone in here so far is talking about VP, particularly in terms of low house edge games, I'm not surprised they're tight on comps. Curious if they're any better for slot or table players.

I have not received any offers from them beyond an occasional 2 night comp in a standard room. Same slot play at other off strip joints (M, GVR, RR, palms) nets me fairly consistent 3+ night / 100+ FP / 50+ RC.

South Point= worst comp for play of any Vegas casino.
