The Oasis is a small private pool beside the main. Small and very quiet when we where there.

Was at TI the day before and it was like a pool at a truck stop if such a thing exists. The Mirage main was pretty low key. Lots of adults having drinks and and enjoying the pool and throwing a ball around etc. Nothing crazy but we enjoyed it.

The lady working the door told me that they allow anything (no glass) into the pool area as long as they sell it on the property. I just got one of those big plastic Mirage cups from buying a drink and went back and forth from the room and filled it up or went back to the casino and played VP and filled it up with comped drinks.

Just booked the Mirage for August. Fits in our budget. Want to do better than Excalibur etc, but not feeling like I want to put the extra money into the Vdara like last time. Went with "Run of the house" room. Change of strip location too for us.

Totally depends on the dates of your stay. There are some days where Vdara is a lot cheaper than Mirage...

edit: You are right for August though :)

And is a 'Run of the House' room just going to be a resort king, but in a low floor or with a bad view?

It all depends on how busy they are during the trip and your mlife status. I have had luck with the $20 dollar trick getting me Resort Tower rooms with a larger bathroom and separate elevator during non-peak times. I've stayed at Mirage 6 trips and only once was in a regular room. I'm mlife Pearl so I'm not a High Roller.

I absolutely love the Mirage. I’ve been going to Vegas since 93 when I was 15 and for whatever reason the Mirage has become my home. I’m sure my casino host has a lot to do with it and being able to play Shadow Creek.

The 1 BR suites need a bit of a carpet refreshing but other than that it’s fabulous. I just love the Casino and the HL room.

It's $50 more total for the resort King compared to Run of the House room for the 8 nights I'm there. Is it worth just booking that to guarantee a better room?

The main difference between rooms is the size of the bathroom (small in standard room, Resort has a walk-in shower plus a tub) and a dedicated elevator which is a bit quicker, but not significantly. For me, the $50/night wouldn't be worth it.

As a heads up, the differences @WindyCityJ made are for the Resort Tower King, not the Resort King.

If that's $50 total, I'd definitely do it. If it's $50 per night, try the $20 trick instead.

Shoot, I did a toss up between here and Mandalay Bay. Coin landed on Mandalay which I think is a touch more modern. But certainly a worse location. Are Mirage's pools open in Late January? Hoping to get a little pool side black jack in.

Yes the main pool is open & heated.

Tell me more about this poolside black jack?
