CAUTION: I AM NOT A PHOTOGRAPHER! Of course that will be evident when you see these pictures. I did want to add a couple of more photos to this thread. We just got back literally hours ago!

I took this through a gap in the construction fence on Saturday.

They are using the rubble to help elevate their equipment to reach the top of the structure.

This pic was taken from the west tower of the Cal. As you can see the parking garage is pretty much gone except for part of the solid wall that they are using to brace up Mt. Plaza.

I probably could have spent a lot of time watching them destroy this place but there was some serious gambling that needed to be done!

Thanks for sharing those pics! I'm an electrician in construction and although I don't know the science of construction demolition I'm always fascinated by it and like to watch and analyze why they do things the way they do.

I hope on my next stay at the Cal I'll be able to have a room where I can chill and watch the goings on next door. It would be a great way to get away from the tables if I happen to be taking a beating, lol!

    Again thanks for sharing!

Is it not true? Guys like to watch other guys work, especially when there are large pieces of machinery involved. We stand there geeking out analyzing and scrutinizing about what should be done and how to do it.

We passed by the sight many times while we were there. One of the times it looked like there were a couple of guys working on one of the machines. They were in a cherry picker looking at one of the claw machines. Fascinating! :)

BTW guys, my wife was not impressed with the demolition and could care less.

They should have sold time on the claw, I mean, pretty hard to mess up a job like that.

Hey, any updated pictures of the demo? Someone has had to take some pics. I am only guessing that the other tower should be down by now.

I agree. @Joe i would expect updates shortly. Remember the original timeline was to be clear and level by mid-November. Things happen.
Having watched the depth grow with strip casinos for height/ dimensions it will be interesting to see how far they go below the surface. And what pipes/conduits they run into.

It would be fascinating if Derek constructed a tunnel linking 18-Fremont with 'the D' so that players could avoid the FSE madhouse if they wanted! Put a bar or two in there along the way...perhaps a Mermaids-style junk-food counter...a few slots... no chairs (to minimize vagrants), and a regular security presence....it would be a great feature!

It doesn’t look to promising that it will be down before I got out there in middle of January.

Thanks marksind. I just took a look at it. From a spectator view, it seems like they are moving a little slow but I am sure that they are being cautious bringing this thing down. As long as they do it safely and with no incidents.

It was covered up by a big tarp of some sort when I was there Christmas Day - Friday and not much seemed to be happening with it.

There is a little bit less today from those pics above. Not sure what they havee run in to but it is not nearly as expeditious as earlier.
