    Hello!

Considering a return to a CET property after several years due to a bad service incident. We've stayed Downtown exclusively in the recent past. One of the problems we have with staying at CET properties is how bad the gambling is. However, I have heard that the Cromwell tends to sport 3:2 blackjack and some decent video poker.

If this is true at the Cromwell, I might consider it as I like the location and we've never stayed there.

...or are there any CET properties on the Strip that offer any decent odds? We like to gamble a bit and it stinks to stay in a place with poor odds.

    Thanks!

Cromwell has decent craps (100x odds if you can afford it!), not great if you play prop bets and the field as these bad bets are even worse payouts at CZR.
BJ rules aren't as good as downtown but I don't think it's that drastic of a difference as long as it's 3:2.
VP sucks. They do have some $.25 full pay machines but they barely give you any rating at all. They're located right by the south-Strip entrance across from the craps tables. They rate you at 50:1 ($50 through the machine to earn 1 tier point). Mind you, most vp at CZR properties rate you at 10:1 and slots will rate you at 5:1.

ALL Cromwell blackjack is 3:2... at all times on all tables. Their minimums on shoe games are $10/15 and on DD are $25. H17, no RSA, no surrender. DAS on shoe games, not on DD.

What the Cromwell does have is TERRIFIC dealers. Literally some of the best dealers in the country, and it doesn't matter what time of day that you come. You will find extremely personable employees that truly go out of their way to make sure you have a good time. Cocktail staff is top notch and floors are just as good. I had a buddy that set next to me for 5+ hours on a Saturday night (doesn't play, just watches) and they fed him cocktails like candy without even thinking about it.

If CET was more generous with their comps like Mlife, I would give all my business to the Cromwell, but I have to spread it around a little to keep the comps coming. Their hotel is tiny (like 160 rooms) and they have very limited dining, 1 tiny cashier with usually 2 people working (no line), but the place is terrific.

My favorite casino in Vegas and it is not even close.

I couldn't tell you much about the table games, but the slots are a little lacking. It is still one of my favorite places to stay, you can't beat it for convenience. Parking is easy, quick check in, and from your room to the casino floor in about 30 seconds. I also enjoy the free fancy espresso machines on the 5th and 7th floor. The shower/bathroom situation can be a little weird if you are staying with a friend instead of a significant other.

Great information; thank you (and thanks to all who have replied)! I can live with those BJ rules. Considering staying at the (cheaper) Flamingo which is nearby.

Also, I don't believe the full pay VP has DDB, which is a bummer in my book.

Has anyone who has stayed here had problems with noise from Drais? Reviews suggest it can be pretty loud at weekends! I'm comped at Caesars most trips but can also get Cromwell comped.

I have a Barbary Coast Silver Strike. It took us several tries to win it. Missed out on getting a Stardust one and I think I have an Aladdin one.

It all depends on the room and floor, etc. I have stayed there over a weekend and had zero issues, and I have had friends say it was a nightmare. That being said, you could have just as much issues with Drais if you were staying next door at the Flamingo with a room facing it. I wouldn't sweat it - great hotel (although tiny rooms) with immediate access to the casino/strip and they have a great valet.

Imho, the dealers are fantastic at Cromwell...but...the VP stinks! However, the drink service is really good. Beware of Drais nightclub as it will keep you up all night. For that amount of money to stay there, I would rather stay at Paris, better VP & nicer rooms for the money

Cromwell best place on strip for table games (has single zero roulette also) and 25c VP, plus great drinks service. A definite fav of mine,

Just returned from six days at Paris with most of my VP play at Cromwell. Over the last couple years I have had more tax forms from the bar there than anywhere in Vegas but this trip and my August trip were different. As I played this trip, I talked with multiple repeat players who also noticed it was much less generous. Forget the pay tables, I am talking about playing hours with minimal if any quads and only a few FH. I was fortunate enough to get a AWAK but only after dropping to quarters and coasting. Several of the staff say they hear it all the time. I had the same experience in the HL area on $5 VP

So I guess they went to 3/2 BJ and single zero roulette and are making it up on the VP machines

They are dealing fair games. The paytables are standard CET crap besides the six single line quarter games, but they aren't cheating you on the other game. For one, it's illegal to do so, and, it's not like they design the machines. They are offering standard IGT games running on the same non-cheating software as everyone else.

I highly doubt they are adjusting machine paybacks (could they even do it if they wanted to?). The games are set by the designer as far as I know.

Cromwell is on the up and up. This isn't Joe's Gamblin Depot in the middle of the ghetto...

Was in Vegas 12/10-12/15. Was wandering around the strip itching to play a session of BJ and remembered all the positive comments on here about 3:2 BJ at Cromwell. It was weekday late morning when I stopped in. Place was pretty dead obviously and played at a $10 table. I was only willing to drop $100 for this session and unfortunately the session only lasted 10 min. Should have know it was a bad shoe when the first 2 hands the dealer gets Ace up Black Jacks. I will comment that I got a drink during that 10 min. and the dealer was the most personable at any casino the entire trip. I will deffinately give the Cromwell BJ some more play and have more reserves next time.

I'm a CET player and played primarily at Cromwell's DD 3:2 tables when I was there last months, it's a pitch game where you can touch the cards if memory serves me correctly. Best drink service and rules mid strip at the $15 level I think as far as CET properties go at least. When I come back in a few months I'll likely take some of my gambling from PH's DD tables to Cromwell, if not most of it.
