    My Trip Report

Stays: JW Marriott, Falcon Ridge Hotel (Mesquite), Seven Wives Inn B&B (St. George), Stardust, Bellagio Spa Tower.

Shows: Harvey Korman and Tim Conway, Hairspray, Damn Yankees (small local theater in St. Geo)

Golf: Paiute Sun Mountain, Paiute Snow Mountain, Paiute Wolf, Legacy, Desert Rose; Wolf Creek, Palms, Casablanca, Oasis Canyon, Falcon Ridge in Mesquite. Was to play Shadow Creek yesterday but they punched the greens so I gotta go back and try again next week.

Food: Mesquite is a culinary wasteland. Wasteland. The Painted Pony in St. Geo is outstanding. So’s the Blue Bunny ice cream joint. Peppermill is unchanged from our last couple tries – overpriced and down-the-tube. Wynn’s dinner and Sunday brunch buffets aren’t really all that special. Then again, I don’t “get” buffets. Carmel Room at Rampart bites … salt and overcooking appear to be the keys to that kitchen. Mon Ami Gabi could be the best steak deal in town. Café Bellagio is WAY overpriced but the noodle place rocks. Second trip to Spiedini in a couple weeks and the recommendation banner still flies high.

Gambling. Terri kicked ass playing DDB VP. Thankfully. I kept feeding Bens, she kept handing ‘em to me. Love that four-pack of FP machines at Wynn.

A bit like going back to childhood. Same patter, which was comforting. And as funny as ever. Our ticks were comped and I think I heard they were $60 each face value, which I'd not pay for the show. Can't imagine they aren't readily available at the two-fer outlets and the Dust seems to be giving 'em away for minimal past play.

Probably too many trips and too much stuff to write up magazine- and book-wise, abner.

Probably averaged in the low 90s ... still waiting for rounds to post through GHIN. I had four in the mid 80s but two past the uh-oh mark.

I'm sure it does in the morning in winter. But other than that shouldn't be a problem.

Hoya...Ken is right, in the morning it does quite a bit but as I recall when we were there in Sept last year, they have so many different pool areas that you could always find sun or shade just about anytime of the day.

    'Bout the same.

BTW, golfers REALLY need to come up with some new quips. That one is so stale. It needs to go in the shitter along with, among others:

    "Never up, never in"
    "How does your husband putt?"
"Get ______ (up, down, left, right, legs, whatever)"
    "You da man"
"Let the big dog _____ (out, bark, play, whatever)"

    Still on the approved list:

"Billy Billy Billly, oh Billy Billy Billy"
    "Right in the lumberyard"
    "Shot, pro"
    "Press"

    Another for the shitter list.

"Get in the hole!!!" ...... after the guy has hit it from the tee....
I mean, cmon....how often does that happen.

    Still approved:

    You're a gorilla!!
You still buyin' lunch at the turn??
Play the last hole for a beer? - Straight out, no strokes -

And what about "good line/speed" when a guy ends up hole-high but six feet off or blazes run over the top of the hole?
