This is sad for the employees.

I have the opposite reaction of you. I think this could be good for players. MGM may pick up marketing efforts to drive marginal traffic.

I just checked and I'm shocked at how cheap MB is for NYE relative to the other MLife joints for me.

I speculated on this board shortly after the shootings that Mandalay, Luxor and even Excalibur would see a decline in visitors. Possibly even Tropicana and Hooters as they all have views of the mass shooting scene. I had a trip planned, booked, paid for and ready to go for the Tuesday after the shooting but I canceled due to feedback I got from people that were there telling me it's very somber.

As far as I am aware the grounds where the shooting took place is still a crime scene and is being guarded by LVPD. To be completely honest I would not be a bit surprised if that entire sound end of the street sees some serious changes in the coming years not only from lack of business due to the shooting.

This is sad indeed, I walked into the casino Thursday and it was dead but to be fair it was the afternoon and not the evening (another member in their TR said it had a decent crowd recently if memory serves me correctly).

That being said, the rest of the strip at MGM and north was hopping. I think there's still quite a few residual effects of the incident.

I didn't see LVPD surrounding the site but there's a black tarp surrounding it and some signs (that may have been there the entire time, not sure) mentioning trespassing would be prosecuted. I got an eerie feeling and just left since I literally saw 2 other people outside on the strip in that area

I’m guessing this downturn will be more short lived. People are growing numb to these events.

I’m just one person and have little effect but I’ll go play there next week to show support for MB.

I should mention I am staying at Delano for my annual Christmas trip, so I will be on that end of the strip but chose Delano because of how far pushed back it is. Naturally when I want to hit the strip I will have to go that way, or go that way when I want to his the party stores across from Mandalay Bay. It is my first time at Delano so we'll see how it goes.

All the more reason to make sure we visit MB later this week when we are in town.

Feel awful for these people. I understand business, shareholders, etc., but I would have hoped MGM would have tried to ride this out a bit longer without laying people off.

It is unfortunate - I always feel for people who get let go - but not entirely unexpected. I know, I know...we're not s'posed to take it personally when we 'downsize', but since humans are involved, we are gonna take it personally. If some buildings get razed down that way, I can't say I'd be surprised.

I saw a quote in another article about how difficult this month has been for staff. I hope VMBers would keep this in mind and be a little extra nice to the staff.

My host from MB reached out to me on 10/28 asking for when my next trip is...MB casino seems goes out their way try to lure customers in most times, I always got taken good care when I was there. MB seemed always slows compare to other casino and with “tragic” obviously took toll on their business. I’m sure they will bounce back ..hopefully soon, i always had good service from MB.

To your point, I received 2 comp nights at Excalibur and actually booked them for this upcoming weekend. I was surprised to find this offer as I haven't played at an MGM casino for over a year. I wondered if this was prompted by the recent events or just because of off season in Vegas?

Also, since the pedestrian bridge between NYNY and Excalibur is closed until the end of the year this has to impact foot traffic. It has changed my plans on getting downtown on Sunday as this makes the WAX much more difficult to access having to traverse 3 pedestrian bridges to get to the stop. Uber/Lyft will benefit from this closure from us this trip.

I was looking to book a trip before the shooting and reached out to my host a couple of days after the shooting. She quickly got me set up with the same great service she has always provided. I do agree the service at MB has always been good.

I’m hoping my host and favorite fun dealers/bartenders aren’t affected by the labor reduction. It would be a big bummer if I got there and they were “downsized”[emoji849].

Odd. Because I usually have a 2 night offer from MB sitting in my pile (yeah, that is how I roll...low, lol) and the most recent offer from MB has nothing. I also noticed that I usually have 4 days at NYNY or Monte along with 100 or 150 in FP and 100 in RC, and right now I have 2 nights at either, with no FP and No RC. Hence....taking up CET on their offer of 5 days at the Flamingo with $100 RC on our upcoming trip....

I’ve stayed at MB several times a year for the past few years. A few weeks ago when I was in town but staying elsewhere I made it a point to go to MB and play for a while. I have a great host there and really like many of the dealers and pit people. There were plenty of people playing in the casino. It’s hard to judge if the “normal” amount of people were there as it was a weekday afternoon. Several of the dealers and pit people specifically thanked me for stopping by and playing. They were quite appreciative. I hope the layoffs aren’t extensive and that hosts and dealers aren’t affected. I also wish corporate MGM would perhaps put personnel first and profits second until MB can recover - but that’s never going to happen. I’ve booked two upcoming trips at MB. We’ll see how it goes.

I was at MB earlier today. It was pretty dead. Later, I heard some CET employees talking about their friends being laid off at MB. The whole situation is depressing

I stayed at Luxor two weeks ago and stopped by Mandalay Bay on Saturday night. I was surprised at how crowded it was - more crowded than I'd ever seen it. Maybe it was because the Michael Jackson show just let out, but I was happy to see so many people there. I'm going back to Vegas this Friday and staying next Tuesday at Mandalay Bay. I suspect it will be quiet next week mainly because of Thanksgiving.

I'll go even further. With the new football stadium going up behind Mandalay Bay I wonder if they will go through a "rebranding" and "remodel" and perhaps close for a year or so to make renovations and completely change their entire appearance as to not be associated with the mass murder. This could just be the beginning of a major transformation of the south end of the strip to go along with the building of the new NFL stadium.

The only hiccup would be the WNBA team that is scheduled to play at Mandalay Bay. They could slot that into the T-Mo Arena or opt for it to go elsewhere on the strip at a different location like the MGM Center.

Yeah, it was kind of depressing last week driving by the las vegas sign where they had a memorial set up for the victims and literally hundreds of people there paying respects and then see the police presence across from Mandalay bay at the shooting site.

We went to Excalibur for Tournament of Kings and it was super busy, didn't make it any further south to Luxor or MB so cannot comment on how busy or slow it was, but anytime you see people getting laid off / losing their jobs like this right before the holidays it is tough.
