I was looking at the Four Queens sites to see what the different rooms they have are. Are all "Standard" rooms located in the North Tower and all Premium in the South Tower? Which are better? From what I've heard the South tower is quieter but it looks more expensive. Just wondering as I might switch to them in December if prices go crazy cheap. Wife might get two nights comped for December at the D also but always keeping my options open. Thanks in advance.

Four Queens has been doing some pretty minimal room renovations for the past year or so. It makes sense that they would have started in the South tower due to noise. If noise is an issue you have to be very specific to avoid noise from the Third Street stage and the stage at Golden Nugget. Last time I couldn’t get South Tower facing South the clerk gave me North facing Fremont eleventh floor corner suite. Definitely not renovated, but heavy curtains I got decent sleep.

I would pay a little more and stay at Downtown Grand any day over Four Queens. Their rooms look more modern than Four Queens' remodeled rooms.

Just seeing if you book a standard room you are automatically in the North Tower. We will probably stay at the D but just wondering for the future. As far as room quality as long as they are cleaner than the Fremont, I am not that picky.

Not picky here at all, go with who is cheapest and try to avoid resort fees. If you can I would encourage The Cal, their remodel was very well done. But we have an upcoming stay at the 4Qs,no huge issues there.

We stayed at the Cal last March in a remodeled room and it was great.

I would say the 4Q rooms are slightly cleaner than the Fremont.
with a standard room, yes you will generally be booked in north tower.
I stay downtown about 30 nights per year. if I don't have a comped room, I pretty much go with the cheapest.
other than GN or DTG, everything downtown is nearly equal.
If price was equal, between 4Q or Fremont, I would choose 4Q.
is it worth a little more ($10-$12 per night) to stay at the Cal? sort of, certainly so if you are not staying solo.

    clear as mud??

I just finished a trip where I stayed at the 4 Queens, Fremont and the Cal. Cal has the best room. 4Q had a so. facing south fine except when they had a concert at that venue south. My room was shaking.

Four Queens was my home base for a number of years. Finding a room without noise issues was becoming a science, but if ‘South facing South’ no longer works then I am done. Still my favorite VP bar, cafe and pizza, but I stay on east coast time and I don’t need live music at bedtime.

When you check into 4Q, lay a $20 tip on and ask for a suite, either north or south tower. North are Jacuzzi suites, which are nice. North is noisier, but the tub takes the edge off. I've done this five or six times and have never been turned down.
