OK, we've taken Uber/Lyft off the table and you don't have a rent-a-wreck.

So, now we're down to Taxis and Shuttles

Super Shuttle (Shared) runs $11/one way...private runs $49 from McCarran to Orleans.

Might wanna look at this: http://www.lasvegas-how-to.com/free-shuttle.php

Depends on how you define 'best'. Cost - comfort - time, etc.

We've used this : https://www.belllimousine.com/ and this: https://www.showtimetourslv.com/AirportShuttle for our trips. I know some people don't like shuttles, but I just flew four hours to get here so another thirty minutes to get to the hotel is not gonna kill me.

    and finally this guy: https://www.worldtaximeter.com/las-vegas/mccarran+airport/the+Orleans+hotel+las+vegas

Thank you very much it looks like a Taxi is about the same price as the shuttle (hopefully) according to estimate, and as always depending on driver.

Make sure the taxi doesn't long haul you. From McCarran to the Orleans don't let the cabbie take the airport tunnel route to the freeway, that's the long-hauled route. Make sure the taxi takes Swenson to Tropicana and then left on Tropicana to the Orleans.

Tell the cabbie you are headed to Orleans and the sign (the sign) says about 18$ via Tropicana. Can that be right?
You say this as he takes your bag but you are still holding onto it. Go from there.
Also put the taxi authority # in your phone and if agregious hit dial. If 1 or 2$ off. So be it. Margin of error.
I always told them straight up I was on a budget so the more that went to the meter the less I had for the driver. Never went over as he / she has a bit of control.
Don't try it on the wax as it is 2$ or walking. They don't budge.
I hate the cab hassle. It's like buying a car......ugh. Except the cab has no manager to go run the numbers by.

Okay, I gotta ask: Did you really try to haggle a $2 fare with a city bus driver?
