I need to get a room for the last nights of a 10 day trip in December. I initially planned on Cosmopolitan, but they aren't offering 2 comp nights for me anymore. I am sterling there so I can get one night comped but would need to pay casino rate plus resort fees for the second night. So instead I am leaning toward getting a 2 night myVegas comp for Luxor or NYNY. I have stayed at Luxor many years ago (17 yrs?), and liked it then. Never been to NYNY. I am thinking that the food options are better at NYNY. But I am also thinking about seeing Carrot Top and BMG so Luxor would be very convenient for that. The gambling is probably a wash between the two.

    Which should I choose?

I am not a big fan of the food options at either place, except Luxor includes Tacos & Tequila, which is excellent. Plus, at Luxor, you are close to Mandalay, which has multiple good dining options. Nothing wrong with NYNY. I would say the rooms there are on par with the tower rooms at Luxor. If food is the main consideration, I would go with Luxor. If other factors are more important to you, let us know what you're looking for

I'm a big fan of NYNY over Lux. Better atmosphere, always busy but not crowded, easy to navigate. Not a ton of food options but what they have is good, Il Fornaio and especially Gallagher's are good eats, and Nine Fine is usually a good night time spot. Rooms are small but in my 6 stays have always been clean, comfy and quiet. It's one of my home bases in town and never lets me down.

I personally prefer Luxor over NYNY. I like what's left of the Egyptian theme and I love how it is perfectly situated between Mandalay Bay and Excalibur. I will go back and forth between these casinos many times a day whenever I'm staying there.

Don't know how you come to that conclusion.
I agree with UK that food is not good either place, but Luxor better than NYNY.
NYNY doesn't even have a buffet. That makes it the same league as Casino Royale.

Agreed. There's not a single place I really would want to eat at NYNY. Luxor doesn't have much more, but I know it has the one excellent restaurant and Mandalay has many more

I have never stayed at NYNY (back in the day I wouldn't stay in a hotel that didn't have a buffet) , but if you haven't stayed at the Luxor, I recommend it just to say that "you stayed" in the pyramind.

That implies that you ask for the pyramid. Why stay in a standard hotel when you can stay somewhere "unique"?

The rooms may be a little "dated", but they were clean and quiet.

Yeah but the buffet at Luxor is bad enough that we avoid it all costs. But from what we've tried Luxor certainly has more, if not better options though. But there's a couple of acceptable options at NYNY. The America restaurant plus a couple of little snacky places in that little Greenwich Village area that are tucked away past the steakhouse area.

I agree some of the snack areas are passable, but they really aren't much more than snacks. If you want a slice of pizza for dinner, NYNY is fine. But not if you want much more. I have eaten at America in the past and was less than impressed

Have stayed at NYNY, but not at Luxor. NYNY room was fine, if a bit small. A couple of food options that I tried, I liked for casual dining: Nine Fine Irishmen for a good Irish pub, and the Crepe place for breakfast. Wasn't a fan of the cafe there (Is that America? I think so).

I've only been in the Luxor casino (no rooms or restaurants), and don't like it. Can't really explain why, but not a fan. Also, Luxor location gives you access to Mandalay Bay (which is a plus) and Excalibur, which is terrible. NYNY has easier access to more either neighboring, or nearby casinos (although you will need to go through Monte Carlo Construction to get to some of the higher end ones (Cosmo, Aria, etc.)

Long winded way of saying: NYNY, because of a personal dislike of Luxor, and more about the location.

Toms Urban at NYNY was good and Il Fornaio (?) were both acceptable choices and MGM is only across a walkway. I like the casino at NYNY and the rooms are fine. Will be back again next month.....

You know, I have not tried this one. It was being built the last time I stayed there. But it looks like an improvement over some of the other offerings. And Shake Shack might be an improvement as well, but I don't go to vegas for fast food and didn't think about it either

I would stay at NYNY. Whatever you do stay away from Luxor buffet. NYNY has a breakfast buffet at Chin Chin and Gonzalez Mexican food is good.

I have stayed at Luxor and liked it. However, I doubt I would stay there anymore. Too far down the strip. NYNY is just across the bridge from MGM. Plenty of places to eat. And also next to NYNY - Monte Carlo or what ever it is being named and plenty of places to eat up that side of the strip. Luxor buffet is awful -- even for breakfast.

I'm a fan of NYNY. I'd recommend it. I'm more than happy with the food options at NYNY. When my wife and I go to Vegas we don't bother with fine dining, we just like to eat on a normal schedule and avoid high priced restaurants... well, high priced for Vegas anyway. We'll eat at America, Nine Fine Irishmen, Gonzalez Y Gonzalez, and we'll even stop at all of the Village Street Eateries just off of the casino, such as Greenburgh's Deli, Sirrico's Pizza and Broadway Burger Bar. It also has Tom's Urban and Shake Shack.

I do want to stay at Luxor sometime, just because I want to experience the pyramid. I know I would walk down to NYNY for plenty of my meals though.

To me it looks like Gallaghers, NFI, and Il Fornaio would be good @Nyny.

At first I was leaning toward Luxor, but I think I'm leaning toward Nyny now...

Have stayed at both this year, and it's NYNY for me by a nice margin. Luxor is ok, but outside of staying in a pyramid, I'm not sure any aspect of it is better than NYNY.

Don't forget, there's Bruxie located outside NYNY. I love Bruxie!

I've never stayed at Luxor so cannot compare, but I very much enjoyed my stay at NYNY a couple years ago. The casino is a great environment - much better than Luxor's in my opinion, considering theirs isn't even under the main pyramid but on the lower level. The food options at NYNY are very good, and personally I prefer the area on the Strip further north than that rather than further south. Being closer to Caesars and the Linq Promenade - which is hopping nowadays - are better than being close to Mandalay in my view.

    I recommend NYNY.

NYNY mostly because of the feel of the casino and the less remote location. Also, the adjacent Park has added restaurant choices. However, if this had been summer it would have tilted Luxor for the pool.
