    My Trip Report

I'm terrible at remembering to take pictures and often go way off the planned itinerary in Vegas, so no promises that updates will be exciting and/or timely, but I'm going to give this Trip Report thing a go.

I have to be in Vegas for work next week M-W. Life is tough some times, but I make do as best I can. Which of course means I extended the trip on both sides and am headed off first thing in the morning for nine days in paradise.

    9/22 - 9/24 - Four Points Flamingo
    9/24 - 9/26 - Bellagio
    9/26 - 9/27 - MGM Signature
    9/27 - 9/30 - El Cortez

Warning - this TR will include:
    Low Rolling Hijinks
    Lots of Video Poker
    Football Watching
    Copious Alcohol Consumption
Me Being Weirdly Cheap about Food and Beverage (when not comped)
    A Couple Non-Gambling Days While I'm Working
    Sigma Derby

    Things on My To-Do List:
    VGK Pre-Season Game or Two
    Dinner at Le Cirque
    Ka and/or Zumanity
    Light Dinner at Morimoto

Things That Are Always on My To-Do List, But That I Never Manage to Actually Do:
    Pinball Hall of Fame
    Dinner at Hugo's Cellar
Finally Learning How to Play Craps
Pizza Rock (this will be the trip, I swear)
Not Being Lame and Managing to Stay Up Past Midnight Every Night
    Big Elvis
Drinking Enough Water to Ward Off Hangovers
    Loco Moco @ Aloha Specialty
    Mac King

I have an expensive vacation coming up in October, so this is going to be a full on low-roller trip (luckily my gambling money is in a separate budget from general vacation funds, so I'll still be able to play to my normal, admittedly pretty low level). I'm hoping to make the most of my resort credits as well as some coupons and comps along the way in order to have a bit of luxury on a small budget.

If you forget to drink enough water, or get too much "alternate hydration", there's always Hangover Heaven.
    Have a great trip!

It's go time. There are eleventy billion people on the upgrade list and my name is distressingly close to the bottom.

I always worry that I'm going to be late and then end up at the airport way early. At least that ensures that there's time for overpriced airport breakfast baos. The breakfast of champions!

(This is my first attempt to post pictures. Someone let me know if they turn out wonky.)

I had hoped to grab a couple extra hours of sleep on the flight, but that has been a total failure thus far.

Thank goodness for in-flight WiFi. I was getting caught up on some work when I realized that *gasp* I had never redeemed the MyVegas rewards I had been planning on. Was able to grab $25 FP for Bellagio, a Mirage lunch buffet, and NFI 2-4-1. Not sure that I'll redeem them, but good to have options. Was hoping for a show ticket - Ka, Zumanity, or something, but all sold old. (This is why I shouldn't procrastinate so much.)

Landed on time, but I found myself starving and stone-cold sober (which is just not right). So I veered into the AmEx Centurion Lounge on my way towards baggage claim.

Kicked off the trip with free champagne and then a few free Grey Gooses. Not a bad start. Plus a truly weird-tasting udon noodle soup (do NOT recommend) and a very tasty chicken with rice and veggies. I love free food and drink (with an appropriate tip). I am full and perfectly tipsy --- I'm ready to take on the world....or at least the Fremont Street Experience.

I grabbed an uber from the airport ($10.60 + tip) and it couldn't have been easier. I've used either buses (when on my own dime) or cabs (when the company is paying) in the past, but uber beats them both for ease versus cost. Called my driver while I was taking the escalator up from baggage claim and he was there within a minute of me arriving at the pick-up area.

My room at the Four Points is perfectly acceptable. They let me check in early, have a coffee maker and free bottled water in the room. The front desk agent also insisted I take a 4PM checkout just in case I need it. I'm pretty pleased --- especially since it was only 3,000 SPG points a night.

Off to start degenerating. Was debating Downtown versus Ellis Island. But's silly. While I may make to EI later tonight for steak, I'm in Vegas. I want a Vegasy experience --- so downtown it is. Off to hop an uber to Downtown. Hope to be back shortly to post all my Royal Flushes. I'm feeling lucky (though it's possible that that's the Grey Goose talking).

    I have survived Day 1.

Took a Lyft downtown and wandered for a bit, before heading to Four Queens and settling into one of the JOB 9/6 machines. I'm sure this happens all the time, but I was shocked that many of the "good" machines were empty while people were playing $1 JOB on a 9/5 machine in the next row. What are they doing?

Played a pretty lengthy session. Was tickled to get four queens at the Four Queens.
    IMG_0811.JPG

Sadly drink service was a bit non-existent. Eventually, got bored and decided to stretch my legs. Went for a walk and ended up at my favorite low rolling game --- SIGMA DERBY! The table was quiet at first, but picked up quite a bit. Drink service was phenomal as it always seems to be on this game. Traded $3 in loses for 4 beers - a fair trade indeed.

    IMG_0813.JPG IMG_0816.JPG

Eventually headed back to Four Queens for another session of video poker until I got peckish and ended up using some of my comps on the Prime Rib special at Magnolia's. It was pretty unremarkable. Not bad, just not good. Of the prime rib specials I've had, I'd rank them - Main Street Cafe > Siegel's > Magnolia's > Tony Roma's. I kind of wish I had gone to Chicago Brewing instead.

    IMG_0821.JPG

Finished out the night with one more session of video poker. I got a couple premium hands along the way to help me out, including the best hit of the night:
    IMG_0817.JPG

But, it was an inexorable slow bleed. Did just over $4,000 in coin-in and ended up down $280.

Tomorrow's plan is to hang out at MSS - watching college football, drinking beer, and playing video poker. What every Saturday should be. I'm not a fan of this time zone thing though. I think noon is too early for games. And 9 AM. Luckily, my Nittany Lions are playing a night game which starts at a respectable 4:30 PM here.
