I feel like this has been going on since Lagasse opened.

I have no problem with them charging during peak periods. If I want to spend all day watching football, why should I lose out on a seat to some slobs who toss hoodies over 5 chairs at 5am, thinking that grants them some seats?

These places are in the business of making money.

It's also a question of what do you want your book to be. Do you want it to be a place for 500 people to sit or do you want it to be a place for 100 good players to sit?

The games are on all over town and you can bet on your phone. The allure of sitting in a sports book is being naturally weakened. If I were a high end casino, I'd rather have an all-you-can-drink/eat experience for high rollers and those willing to pay for it.

Tend to agree with these comments. I rarely sit in a sportsbook anymore. The only time I even want to be around one is during some MM games, when the energy of the room is fun. But for that, I am more than happy to stand in the back for twenty or thirty minutes to watch the end of a game. For me, my hotel room is often a more comfortable place to watch anyway

If I didn't have party invites, I would do the same. But the parties are different than watching it in a book

Read article about the "new fantastic book" at the Wynn. Stopped by Sunday the 10th....it's not fantastic. Very limited seating that all appeared to be reserved. No place really to stand either. U could stand outside the book and look in but wynn security was constantly having to get people to stop watching from walkway. I'll pass, not worth the effort. Did have some pretty great tvs though

I actually like the refurbed book. The lighting is much better, its easier to navigate, and its easier to see the boards on the far side wall. Plus, they added a big VP bar that includes a full menu from the refurbed deli. Most of the seats being reserved on a sunday isn't really endemic to the Wynn. That's most Strip books during NFL season. I think the refurb is a big upgrade. here's a pic from there last month

I think I liked the sportsbook for the large screen and Stereo surround sound. Then came the home cinema. Oops.
Now I can tolerate the bar with the big screens. It is not that far off.
I remember seeing the "back" screens / tv's back in nosebleeds at Caesars back late 90's early 2000's. Had to be 45-52 inch and those were the afterthoughts. Now those sizes are small. At the time it was like "wow"!!
The sportsbook is not the "unique" factor it once was and to me that takes away a bit as I liked sitting in theater seating for an afternoon of bets and drinks. Not so unique anymore.
Change is a bitch. Unless change is via divorce......then you can't breath a word about change. can you!?

Guess I didn't see the books with the seating restrictions. Some local dude was complaining that he "spends 2k in the wynn every day and couldn't get a seat. I'll just hang at Harrahs at watch from my unreserved seats[emoji3]

I think smart phones are also part of the change equation. In the past, the sportsbook was the source for information (odds & scores). Now we have smart phones that provide instant score updates, live odds and even allow us to watch live events. Gambles can follow their action from anywhere, hence no need to hang out in the book.

I will be a bit disappointed not being able to plop down with a handful of parlay slips and search the boards for line changes. Besides, I can't think unless I am sitting down :):):)

Rarely watch an entire game, but the Book is my go to place in any casino, in and out all day. Though I am not always a Strip guy for all my gambling, the Strip books are much nicer than those high school desks at the Orleans and the other locals places.

Oh well........I understand, but still...... :kicks the dirt and shuffles off:

The trend with the Sportsbooks, is no different than all the other negative trends we're experiencing in Vegas.

No complimentary sportsbook drinks, out of control resort fees, & other stuff like pay for parking. You name it, they'll figure out a way/path to their cash grab. And frankly, if they're getting away with it and people are still going, unfortunately they were smart to implement those changes. Honestly, I don't like watching games in a sportsbook. Too many groups of people, often times rooting for teams I'm not rooting for. So, it's not a big deal for me, if they charge those yahoos who are apparently willing to pay, for a seat to watch the game. It just isn't ever going to be me.

Personally, I despise the "new" vegas. But again, people are still going. That proves not only can they get away with it, they'll undoubtedly find newer more innovative ways to take from us. You got tip you cap to some of these corporate geniuses. And I'm sure the ones who invented the innovative successful cash grabs, are enjoying handsome bonuses.

I didn't notice a problem with the chairs, but I spent less than half an hour in them, so that may be why. All the higher end properties have separate areas in the books with different requirements, including Aria which I also like very much
