I read some of these threads and it hits me that there are only two places to vacation in the world, Vegas and DisneyWorld. lol

Funny that people fail to understand yet there are nearly 40 million people who descend on the city of sin every year

judging by the stickers I see on lots of cars around here, Destin (or that 30A highway at least) appears to be the third most popular vacation spot. And you're legally required to have a 30A sticker and something with SALT LIFE on it if you go there annually.

EXACTLY! I'm planning a trip to Paris and the hotel (a modest property at best) is $1,500 for 5 nights and the flight is $850. Right there, I'm already out $2,300 before the trip has begun. Not to mention I'll be paying for food / drinks. In Vegas, I can spend $6k, but I'll get comped EVERYTHING, but the flight. Meanwhile, I'll simultaneously have my go at potentially winning a considerable amount.

For us it was Seattle, Phoenix and Dallas this year, but by the end of the year, there will be 7 Vegas trips. It is still our go to place until they stop comping me. Win on a few trips, lose most, but the chance is still there compared to other cities.

A losing in trip in Vegas costs me less then our July trip to Seattle and 4 nights at a downtown hotel, plus food, drink etc.

    You did what, exactly?!? :vomit:

Just kidding. I'd rather blow my brains out personally, but that's the point, right? Why should it matter to anyone else what you do with YOUR vacation time and money?

I sure enjoyed Seattle (have been there 5-6 times), also loved visiting Phoenix and Scottsdale in February. Dallas didn't do much for me... I was there in December I think and found some guy's wallet from Wisconsin with a lotta money in it out by Jerry World. Pretty much paid for my whole trip!!!

Lotsa good points here, and when it comes down to how we vacation, it really only matters to each of us individually.

We look at vacation as an experience not a transaction. We don't want to spend money frivolously or piss it away, but it's also not a zero-sum game. That we cannot somehow "earn" back some of the costs going to Banff or Belize doesn't mean we will therefore default to Vegas.

We have qualifiers. First after what happened to my brother over medical care in Mexico, we are never traveling outside this country again where my health insurance will not be honored.

Second we only fly SWA and where they fly non-stop. No connections for us. It gives us plenty of options out of Milwaukee. Seattle, Phoenix, Dallas, Boston, San Diego and of course Las. They also do Florida non-stop, but I think we burned out on that with too many trips when we were younger.

I feel the exact same way! I have an uncle who would bug me to no end about why we love Vegas. Out of respect I tried to be respectful, but this AHole caught me on a bad BADDD BADDDDDDDDD day during a family gathering with his snide ASS remarks. It was a day where my hormones were raging and the HOT FLASHES were kicking Ass and taking names.

He kept nit picking about Vegas and talking about how it's a waste of money to go there when he's never been before. I looked him and said, "When you tell me why you're cheating on your wife, I'll tell you why I love Vegas"! His mouth stayed open for so long that I was surprised his top denture didn't fall out.

Hence....NO MORE QUESTIONS FROM DDOUCHEBAG UNCLE ABOUT VEGAS ANYMORE.

MATTER of fact, no one ask us anything about Vegas since that family reunion.

I believe it was Alan in The Hangover who said it best: "...hookers and cocaine" Just say these three words and turn around and walk off.

...and here I thought Alan said it best when he proclaimed "It's not a man-purse! It's a satchel". :D

So many "Alan-isms", so little time. But the hookers and cocaine comeback should shut just about anybody up when they question you about Vegas.

Yep, I drove out to Tucson the next day, but remember this was a business trip so didn't really get to experience a heckuva lot during the trip. I was surprised to see the population of Tucson... it's didn't feel that large to me?
