Ladies... what locals spot is your "go to" mani/pedi source?

I've been asked by the other half to find a GOOD place for her to get a pedicure when she arrives in a few days... And sure we can overspend on luck of the draw service at any of the strip hotel spas, but I've got to think with so many locals places all over, maybe there's a better way to go... Being well outside my area of expertise, what say you ladies of VMB? Thanks in advance!

I hate to say I have no idea in Vegas. I refuse to pay their inflated prices. I go to the mall about 50 minutes away (Eau Claire) and they are $25 pedi/25-30 mani (plus tip) and they do a great job. They are so busy and have two locations in the mall with normal wait times of 45 minutes & up to get in. I believe those and the ones in La Crosse are all run by Hmong community members. If she can do it before she leaves she will probably save a ton of cash and a lot of precious vacation time also.

Sorry , no help here either. I always get my pedicure pre-trip. $25 for a great pedicure at my local place, which includes a parafin wax tratment, is just too good to swap for strip prices.

Plus, it gets me in my Vegas groove pre-trip, plus I don't want to spend an hour doing it while in Vegas.

So, pretty much parroting what JGates said :)

Good luck though, and very generous of you for checking for her!

More of the same from me, sorry. I did get my nails done once in a place in the Bally's Bazaar- they do flamboyant nails but no polish changes. It was called Tokyo Nail Bar or something. Was supposed to be fast & fancy. The fancy stuff pretty much required the gel, which i didn't want. My nails looked nice, but not much nicer than when i do them, so i just fine tuned my own nail game & it saves me a ton of money.

Tokyo Nail Bar was good though. Not sure if they do pedicures. There are usually a few nice groupons out there, sometimes its nails & champagne.

The one time I did a mani-pedi in Vegas was several years ago at a place we found through Groupon. It was enjoyable but in retrospect, I don't know if that place is one I would recommend to just anyone if it's still around. It was a bit flamboyant.

Glad to hear about Tokyo Nail Bar. I always figured anyone who opened a nail shop on the strip would make a killing and with all this new retail coming, there should be opportunities for more. I thing I would do is check out the offstrip casinos. Even if their regular menu prices for mani/pedis are out of your budget, many have specials all the time and they aren't always advertised.

Just to wrap up this topic, wanted to post of our actual experience... Having not found any particularly favored locals or off-strip option after doing a bit of research and taking into account the logistics of arranging Lyft/Uber/Cab transportation and costs... decided to bite the bullet and just try out the spa at Mandalay.

While happy that she didn't have to "go" anywhere, she was NOT happy with the end result. As a convention booking, MB had specifically advertised 20% off spa services, yet they gave us a hard time when scheduling the appointment (walked in to set time for next day) and reminding of the discount offer. I even went back with her to make sure it was discounted at check-in. Equally poor attitude from front desk staff. This was for their middle of the road "Fijian Coconut Pedicure" discounted from $110 to $88. It was decided next time either do it before the trip as so many of you seem to do, or pick any off-strip nail place and probably have the same or better result for MUCH less investment.

Not surprised (much), but a lesson learned! YMMV

Ugh! I too get pedicures at home, but the day spa I like in Vegas does have pedicures - A Touch of Las Vegas day spa - it's on Dean Martin behind Bellagio.

I like to do whatever the monthly special is - for August, it was an 80 minute aromatherapy massage for $109 ;-)

Still cheaper at home for a pedi - it's $65 there (I pay $23 at home, so...) But they have packages that might be fun - massage, facial, pedicure for 3 hours, etc.

I've done it twice in Vegas. The last time was in a little strip mall just north of Encore. The price wasn't too bad, the results were terrible. I bought some polish remover and took off the pedicure. The other time was in the Container Park. Price was higher, ~$70. Quality was better too.
