    Hello VMB,

My wife and I are looking forward to our next trip to the promised land in 10 days! I have a few quick questions for the Cosmo faithful.

I have been a CET/TR loyalist for years. We were booked (until yesterday) at the Flamingo in a Mini-Suite with a few hundred in free play. Short of an upgraded room at Cesars, we find the dirty bird perfectly acceptable and they always back end comp our whole stay/meals/sundries/etc. Anyhow, with the impending construction and a few other factors, I was starting to get a bit concerned and thats when I remembered I saw an email a few months ago about a comp offer from Cosmo. I called, and I was surprised by the comp as I've really only played there one evening (albeit, a long, rather expensive evening but my wife and I had a blast at the Video Poker Bar below the huge glass chandelier ) since then the wifey has wanted to stay there... Long story short, I pulled the trigger on the offer and we are now booked 4 nights in a Terrace 1BR with resort fee's waived

So here are my questions (sorry for taking so long)

    1) With no host and no real status, is there a VIP check in that I can request with my comp offer?
    2) Is there a host station somewhere to inquire on back end comps? (I've read they can vary and it depends on the time of year, days, etc.. we are staying Tues-Sat so mid week and I don't think late August is high season so maybe there is a shot)
3)For those of you with status at both Cosmo and CET - What should I expect from back end comps? Won't really change anything just more curious. We plan to rent a pool cabana one day and eat at a few of the restaurants. If we get some/all of that back...great!
    4) Pools - We want somewhere that is fun but not crazy. The Chelsea Pool sounds relaxing but we are worried it will be filled with kids. What would you recommend for a relaxing (but still fun) day by the pool. Essentially we want people and music, just not d-bag party or a ton of kids.

Anyhow... Thanks in advance. I am very excited to try out a new property and I still haven't let the wife know. She's been wanting to stay for a while so I might keep it a surprise until our driver from Omni confirms where we are headed..

    1. Unless your host booked or coded you to use VIP check-in, then no.
    2. Yes, there's usually a host in the back room behind the high-limit room. I've seen hosts in there as last as 1-2am on a weekday before.
    3. Hard question to answer. If you give an idea of your play, it would help gauge or your stats from avg trips. (BR, if slots what's your usual coin-in, if tables what game, avg bet, avg time, etc). Remember THEO determines everything.
    4. Sorry, can't help with this.

From any CET property to Cosmo is a big jump and diff. The Terrace 1BR is nice, especially for a couple. Enjoy the soak in tub, views, and your trip!!!

    1. What @easy_money said. But, you can add early check in (website says guarantees a room by 11:00am) for $50. Or take your chances, when I stay at Cosmo, I'm always moving from somewhere else, so I'm usually trying to check in around 11:00-ish, and I've only had to wait once, on my last trip. It was a long wait too, I'm not doing it again, I'm either paying or asking my host if I can get early or VIP.

    2. What @easy_money said. When looking for back end, unless you play on getaway day, I'd go in there before midnight on the last night of your stay. There may be a host in there during the morning, I've never noticed, but I think most hosts' schedules skew to something like 4:00pm to midnight give or take an hour or two.

    3. Too many variables, hard to say. I've only asked for back end once and got shot down. I just ran some numbers about how much theo it should take to pay off the offers I get and the number I came up with was significantly higher than I play. But I play a consistent level every trip and I keep getting the same offers. So it seems like it's relatively easy to play off the comp, but maybe they build in a little profit buffer before they start giving back end. Or else I'm hitting the payoff number right on the nose.

    4. Not a pool person, but I had a room overlooking the pool deck at the front (the Boulevard I think) once and it's a party pool. And the Marquee is a party pool. So I think you want the Chelsea.

Thank for the input so far.

I'll check in with a host at the high limit room after a few days to see if my play will warrant anything extra. I know when I booked the stay, the lady asked if I needed early check in and I told her we did. She confirmed the dates and that it was marked for early check in, so I assume I have that. We arrive in Vegas on the first direct flight of the day. I believe we land around 7:30a Vegas time on Tuesday. That said, if we are over to the check in desk by 8:30, what are we looking at for wait lines? I am sure we won't get a room until mid-day even with early checkin marked, but I'd prefer to drop our bags, let them know we are here, and maybe they can call/text when things are ready? Any one have experience with how they would handle that? I know several CET casinos as well as TI just give me a call/text when things are ready.

In regards to the pool, I think we will go to the Chelsea pool. I realize we could check both out but I was planning to reserve a cabana ahead of time so I think that kind of locks us in to our choice. I hope its not too boring, but probably better than a gigantic bro-fest. (To be fair, I have been that at bachelor parties in the past... I know how terribly annoying we can be)

One last question: Since we are likely going to try the Chelsea pool for the day, and we are looking for a relaxing couples trip, would you all recommend the West Tower? Neither of us mind the extra walk so the "distance to the strip" is not really a factor for us.

    Dang 10 days huh?!

I'll be there in 10 days as well at the Cosmo on Aug 15 and staying 3 nights. I'm not a Vegas or Cosmo vet at all....but from my limited reading and research...it appears room rates are bit higher for that week vs next week...and highest during the 3rd week of August for obvious reason (the big Mayweather fight is Aug 26...thank god my trip is a week before that crowd).

I was trying to see if there's any special names/events going on on Aug 15 week but doesn't seem like it...so I'm not sure why rates are about $100 higher for that week then earlier.

And it seems that each Casino has their own proprietary formula for how to comp plays and differs. But nevertheless enjoy your trip and I'll see you there!!!

I don't think the front desk will be crowded at that time of morning, but it may not be fully staffed that early, either. But yeah, they'll check you in, give you blank keys and then text/call you when your room is ready. Be prepared for the keys to possibly not work, in which case, the key line is the far left line at the front desk.

Sure, there really isn't much difference between the two towers other than location, so you might as well be closer to the pool. The front desk and bell stand are adjacent to the West Tower also, that'll save you a few minutes if your room is available when you get there. Also if you get upstairs and the keys don't work, you won't have to walk all the way to the other end to get that fixed, lol.

    1) If you happen to be Platinum with Marriott you can use the Autograph lounge (to the left of the main registration desk) for check in.

    4) The Boulevard pool is a younger crowd. I've never found it to be too crazy, but others may have different stories. As far as actual children, there usually aren't too many at Cosmo, but I've seen a few at both pools. I'm 59 and I prefer the vibe (and scenery) at the Boulevard pool.

Just an FYI, if there isn't a host located in the host office within the HL Slot Lounge - you can almost always find one or they can track one down for you in the HL Table Lounge. Good luck with back end comps. Cosmo is very iffy when it comes to that. Upfront is your best shot. Perhaps asking to speak to a host upon arrival to set up some food/beverage? Might be worth a try introducing yourself to whomever is on duty. There is usually someone there beginning around 8 a.m.ish.

Getting room at 8:30am. Possible depending on how many people were booked the night before. I have had it happen. If not, go play.

Cabana - ask the host before you reserve it - they might just take care of it upfront.

Flamingo FreePlay - You can double book that offer and take advantage of it. Get room, check in, put DND on door and go. Just keep in mind, that if you low play at Flamingo, it might impact future offers.

I'll be getting to Cosmo around 830am on a Tuesday....with the help of a $50 sandwich I'm hoping there can be early check-in and a room upgrade....but you're right probably depends on how full the hotel is the night before...

The VIP check in has an unmarked frosted glass door just to the left of the main check in area. To the left of VIP door is the Autograph Lounge (Marriott) check in so be sure to use the VIP. (Although I think you could check in at the Autograph if the VIP isn't open for some reason.

The VIP room has minimal seating but does have coffee and tea, a few light snacks like muffins, cookies, etc.
They keep the water and soft drinks in a little closet so you need to ask the check in staff for it, when you check in, they normally offer you water or soda.

    handyhunter:
There is always a slot host available during the day and late evening, probably all night too; if there isn't one in the glass door office at the rear of the slot high limit room, ask an attendant or go to the players club and they will call one for you. As a slot player, I have had good success with back end comps, we always charge everything to the room and have always had all of our food and beverage charges covered. Have not done cabanas so don't know how that works. I would definitely speak with a host the last afternoon or evening before you check out.

Best of luck! BTW - we always stay in the West, now called Chelsea tower, and have really enjoyed it. And folks who stay in the East, now called Boulevard tower, love it. So guess you can't go wrong with either!

We don't abuse it, we only have taken them up on it at check-in, but we've also been offered beer or wine upon check-in. I like red wine, and I was really pleased that it was more of an old world style (slightly more dry)....it was Duckhorn the last two times (not to be confused with duckpond)....and I personally really liked it....not the sweeter red most casinos serve on the floor! (And sweeter isn't bad, some prefer this, I just like my reds a bit drier, and my coffee black vs sweet! :))

They don't necessarily tell you the name, and I am sure it changes, but I just liked it and asked!

Thabks. We already reserved the cabana as we wanted a specific one and didn't want to run the chance of them being sold out. I'm sure they won't be, but it's worth it for us. I highly doubt they would comp on the front end anyhow as this is our first real trip to Cosmo outside of one night last trip. As I said before, I was surprised by the offer for 4 nights in a terrace and no fees. We will likely concentrate our play there and see what they can do on the back end. I'm not expecting much, but worth the time to ask.

In re: to the Flamingo, we just cancelled the offer. It's not worth the hassle of checking in, etc. we'll likely still show CET some play as I have one machine I really enjoy at Cesar's and my wife and I both like the Bar at the flamingo. We'll probably be back in December so if we don't get another comp or end up not liking cosmo, we will get back to Cesar's. I'm only a couple thousand points from Diamond so I'd like to achieve that before the year is over.

Just curious since you mentioned you're a slot player and got back end Comps, what is your average coin in for back end Comps?

hi , i am a slot player but did not mention back end comps here, this is actually our first trip to cosmo , an old host contacted me as he is now at Cosmo , he asked if we had any offers he could match , we had a Aria sky suite offer that they matched for our up coming trip . .
