This always happens that I'm slow to update on the second day. Early in the day, ran down to Spinetti's shop to pick up some plastic card decks for my home poker game. I can get em on eBay but I always enjoy browsing their store.

Then the 4pm $50 turbo poker tournament at Flamingo. I love these turbo structures, as even many otherwise good tournament players really have poor short stack skills.

Only lasted 30 minutes though. Mostly folded until I got it all in with JJ three way vs AKo and the big stack with pocket fives. And of course the worst hand won, hitting a 8-high straight for a double knockout.

Donked off more than a grand at that stupid Quick Quads VP at Bally's. I blame videopoker.com for getting me hooked. I guess it's interesting to me because of some of the novel holds you have to make (like holding 887A, for example). But wow, did I burn $1000 quickly at the quarter level on that.

Then at least a little success at the craps table at Caesars.

Bally's. There's a 2x2 bank right by the wide aisle way going towards the Jubilee elevators. This was at the one on the right as you face south (facing towards the poker room).

8pm $135 tourney at Bally's now. My opponents look less touristy. Sometimes that's not a bad thing, as they know how to fold sometimes!

Popping into Montecristo before they close for an El Laguito factory rolled Cohiba Robusto and an Aberlour Abunadh. My desert island single malt scotch.

Follow up on the $135 tourney. Busto just before the first break. Card dead the entire time. Best hand was AQs under the gun only to see a three bet behind me and all in four bet behind that, so easy fold. 3bet was KK and the 4bet was AA.

Got down to 8bb, shove or fold mode. Folded around to me on the button with KTo. Shoved. BBeoke up with AK. No help and I was out.

BTW, the bartops in Montecristo are fairly awful. I figured they would be. WinPoker tells me the DW paytable is 95-ish.

Kind of curious if the green light will get me my Aberlour comped. It's a pricey drink...$23. Uh, I'm sure that will be a no.

When did Caesars go to the brown felt? The chips are familiar, but I miss the green felt.

I was kind of wondering if my memory was faulty, but yes! It must be new. Very bouncy too, lots of dice went off the table. Must have been at least 15 rolls off the table in the hour plus I was there. One guy put four rolls in a row out of play!

Interesting discovery at the VP bartop at Montecristo...

I play slower while I smoke a cigar. So I kept checking the lights on the back of the machine, just out of curiousity. Playing $1 level max bet of course. So should have been no problem to get the the green.

But at one point after I sped up my play, I noticed the red light was on. So I asked the bartender what was up. And he pointed out that all three lights (red, green and blue) were all lit, which he said indicates the highest level of play the machine tracks, and therefore the "greenest" state of comped drink. Didn't know that.

But of course, since I was drinking $23 Aberlour, it didn't earn me a free drink there. Kind of expect that in the cigar bar where they offer lots of hard to find scotches. So no complaint from me. But interesting nonetheless.

I stayed at Bally's about 2 weeks ago. There was a machine there that payed 10/6 on ddb. It was the 4th machine over from the servers station at the bar by I think the jubilee tower. Was like that for several days b4 I left. I thought it was a big deal but the few people I brought it to their attention were hohum, no big deal. I've never seen that, especially on the strip. Check it out.

Out to Big B's for some BBQ for lunch. Next time I have to get the one meat plate instead of two...too stuffed. But the brisket is just how I like it, lean and smoky.

Harvested some $1 chips at a craps table at Mandalay Bay. (They are hugely popular souvenirs I give to people.) But lots of one point rollers before PSO on the next point made for a down session.

Then hit the round bar there by where the live bands played. A Ramon Allones with Glenlivet (bah, they won't comp Macallan 12).

Had a blast talking hockey with Joe the bartender for a few hours!

Didn't get a workout in yesterday, so HAD TO do something today. A little 3.2 mile run up Koval Lane to the Wynn and back.

Ended up being a good choice to go after the sun was down. Even though it was still 97 degrees out, much better than trying to run in the midday sun. But still a challenging run.

Best bonus was the golden hour photo opportunities!

Took the one below with the panorama, funny how it made the High Roller look like it melted a little in the heat.

And my reward at the end of the run. The cold sports drink section at the CVS in front of Bally's. I do this every time.
