    My Trip Report

Rarely do solo trips, but this is one. I'm usually with my cigar/restaurant crowd or my blackjack/pool crowd. So most trips I don't get any time to hit the poker tables. Hopefully being solo will cure that.

There will also be plenty of cigars, single malts, VP and blackjack here also. Maybe a MLB bet or two.

Also possibly a day hike out at red rocks, but I suspect I may put that off for some other trip that's not in August!

    Portland airport sights.

    On the economy Red bus.

I love flying out on Friday nights, no huge lines.

This bird was doing his best to keep the famous PDX airport carpet clean.

North side TSA has the shortest line I've ever seen at PDX tonight.

    Sounds like a blast.
If you head out to Red Rock be careful not to sprain your slauson! :D

Just a Diet Coke in the Alaska lounge. No need to hit my liver this early.

Joey Gallo has 29 HRs this year? (He's out on a grounder in this photo.) I should have kept him in my Fantasy league.

I returned to PDX from Reno on a prop plane. It's cheaper to fly to Vegas! Mine wasn't a gambling trip (mostly), but a visit to relatives.

Sorry that I missed the bird!

Only smart bird in Portland. He figured how to get in from that 100 degree heat!

Flight only booked 122 of 175 so should be plenty of elbow room. What a rare luxury. This has to be the lightest load flight I've been on in at least five years.

Flight attendants actually moving people to the back of the plane for weight and balance. Can't remember the last time I'd seen that.

Someone on the plane put on some coconut lotion just before we landed, so now the whole plane smells like Mandalay Bay.

Not exactly a VFR approach, as we had to zig-zag a bit to avoid the worst of a line of thunderstorms on descent around Mount Charleston.

The climbing left turn to heading 140 out of PDX.

Probably doesn't show up, but the little orange dots are the forest fire burning north of Mount Jefferson in Oregon.

Drink coupon for a Fat Tire. Either I've lost my taste for this beer, or they've changed the recipe. Oh well, it was free.

The PDX-LAS Southwest flight always lands at the gate that dumps you out on the side escalator. So you don't get the Welcome sign.

Huge corral of orphan bags at the Southwest baggage office. Why would there be so many right now?

And here we are, in the room. Typical ritual of immediately setting the thermostat to 62 and taking a pano of the view out the window.

My wife thinks I'm about half nuts but often I'll smell something and say that smells just like mandalay or nyny or some other place. Most coconut smells will put MB in my head

    Good start!

As for the Fat Tire, it hasn't changed to my knowledge. I expect you've moved beyond Fat Tire. Lol But their Ranger beers have changed, so it is possible. Most of the Fat Tires I have consumed in the last few years have been at South Point casino as it's the craftiest thing they offer. :( The star of the show there is obviously full-pay bartops, not the drink selection.

    Good luck!

Roller coaster session of STP at Bally's while having a Cohiba Siglo IV. The hand below happened...a multiplier would have been nice, but I'll take it. Played down about half that before I decided time to get some sleep.
