    My Trip Report

Well, off on my 2nd trip of the 4 trips in 9 weeks marathon.

My BFF (Les) was injured when I booked the flights, so I took the 1 stop flight to Las Vegas which takes 2 hours.

Then, my BFF recovered and all of a sudden wanted to book the trip, so now I'm getting in 10 minutes later than him, instead of earlier.

I got a good rate for a convertible from Sixt, there was a 36 hour window that the rate ($36.00 a day) was open, so I took pre-paid and got it for less than $100 for two days.

This is a GGWU bonus event trip, the 4th of 5 that I need for the 100,000 extra bonus points. This should put me over 400,000 GGWU points for the November/December event.

I consider this my yearly "rebate". I'm still up several thousand for the year, so if I can maintain, it should kind of "make up" for a dismal 2016.

So, it appears that CET has really tightened up on comps. First, they required a CC for my comp room, probably for the use it or be charged $50 for a no-show.

Second, they have started (I guess this was the policy all along) to "block you out" of omp offers once you book an eligible offer.

They also don't look at your level when making that decision. Oh well, looks like I won't target GGWU next year, or I'll schedule a different 7* signature event, since that's what screwed up this year's schedule.

So, this trip I'm booked in a Valley Tower executive suite. Check in time is officially 4PM, but I'll see if I can get into my room early.

I need one 2500 and one 1000TC day per month to renew 7*, let's see how it goes. I have at least three more trips to Las Vegas schedule between now and the end of the year, and there's alwars Reno/Tahoe if I need to make up some days. Budget is also a concern, as well as loggin flights towards SWA A list status.

I talked with my ex-wife last night and told her that I was considering taking up a new "hobby" in 2018, since this one was becoming more like "work". My ex-wife comes down to take care of my son and gets a "vacation" away from her BF. I compensate her, as she "keeps the bachelor pad from getting too messy."

She will be coming down at the end of the month since my son is in school during the 7* signature trip with my cousin.

So, on the schedule is dinner tonight at Le Village buffet at Paris. Will charge to the room sionce I'm getting $10 off by not taking housekeeping for the trip. If you take this, it kicks in from the second day onward.

This flight (Burbank-Las Vegas) is only 45 minutes, so I'll pick this up after I check into the room. Lunch might be at Eastside Cannery, where I have a $25 voucher from last week that expires today.

Got to LV airport and was in my car about 20 minutes after we landed.

I called and found out that my room was ready. Les and I dropped off our bags and headed down to Eastside Cannery to use a $25 food comp, and play my $50 FP.

I was checked into a suite on the Valley Tower side

We had Chinese food for lunch. Very authentic (well, as authentic as chow mein can be), and reasonable priced. Went over the $25 food comp by $0.51.

Played my FP and turned it into $135 on Wonder 4 tower (the new variation).

Sorry no pictures of the food. Everything's been a "blur" but settling down now.

Les and I checked in at the TR booth for the GGWU event. Les went to check in at the Linq, I sat down to play.

I played Ice Diamonds, The Walking Dead, and Wierd, Wicked, and Wild. I ended up hitting the WWW machine for a bonus and ended up $500 on that machine, so I've earned 302 TC ($1500 coin-in) and I'm up about $635.00

Decided to take a bread and come back to the room. They delivered my 7* amenity.

    upload_2017-7-31_17-30-10.png

The amenity included four 20 oz. bottles of water and 6 20 oz. bottles of soda.

Les is on his way over. We're going up to Paris. It is the one casino that I missed on my previous QFR trip, plus that's where we're eating dinner (at the Le Village buffet).

So far, so good. Hope I have good news to report later tonight.

The above you mentioned - I'm confused - or did you mean in saving on tips due to no housekeeping?

    Thanks

Harrah's now lets you opt in for $10 resort credit per night if you opt out of housekeeping service.

I'm not sure @steelcity5044. My mom stayed at Harrah's mid-May. That's the first time I'd ever seen the offer. It came in an email about a week before the trip.

Thanks. I will look into it. Staying at PH and Paris - never get housekeeping so hope it's for all the properties - anyone else know anything about this?

I do not recall having this offer at the Linq in June but I may be wrong.

What I meant is that since I will be given a $10 Food and Beverage credit to my hotel bill, I need to have charges on my room bill to apply it against because it's a food and beverage credit, and not applicable to any other charges (I'm fully comped anyway).

I'm not sure if that answer was any clearer.

Had dinner at the Le Village buffet at Paris. They bill it as a "French Seafood buffet". It was very good, but not as good as the three buffets that I consider "head of the class", which are (in no particular order) Wynn buffet, Bacchanal Buffet at Caesars, and Wicked Spoon at Cosmopolitan.

    L to R

Seafood bouillabasse over saffron rice, prime rib, Ratatouille vegetables

    upload_2017-8-1_6-40-58.png

Mac and cheese, sauteed clams, prime rib, bratwurst and andouille sausage

    upload_2017-8-1_6-42-7.png

Made my 1000TC ($5000 coin in) day, and it only cost me about $120. Not bad at all.

Time for nite nite. Another day tomorrow.

Tomorrow I'm wearing a new shirt. Can anyone read what it says?? I'll be looking for a reaction from the ladies!!

Day two - action packed. I woke up at about 5:30AM and got out of bed at 6AM. Les was still under the weather so I went over to Monte Carlo to cash in a small TITO that I had since April.

By the time I finished that, Les had woken up and was ready to go to breakfast.

We went down to Lucky Dragon to have my "jook special". Don't refer to it as "jook", that is the Cantonese term for it. It's congee or rice porridge. So Les and I ordered congee and duck bao for breakfast. Very filling and less than $10.00

    upload_2017-8-1_18-50-59.png
    upload_2017-8-1_18-51-21.png

From there we went down to the D, where it appears that my comps are "dying" after three years and many recent low play days. Oh well, I won't feel bad about using the $50 dinner comp tonight after 9PM for a "take home meal".

I played my FP at the D, and then Les and I separated. I went over to the Four Queens (QQQQ) to play for Silver Strikes, since there were red and blue caps in the machines.

I took out a marker and after about $375, I had 29 clear caps and 3 red caps. Pretty much "break even". The red caps were Betty Boop "New York". The clear caps were normal clad, but I now have enough for the Halloween 2017 $300 and all of 2018.

    upload_2017-8-1_18-52-7.png

I joined back up with Les and we went to the Beef Jerky store near Fremont street. I got some things to take home.

    upload_2017-8-1_18-56-19.png

Went over to Caesars, intending to stay long enough for me to take out a marker, but ended up staying and playing for 500+ TC. OK, half of my day is done as far as gambling goes, and I'm down another $600. Oh well, TCs don't come for free (like yesterday).

Our next stop was the Rio for lunch at Pho' Da Nang. Sorry, no pictures of lunch. I had duck wonton noodle soup and Les had lettuce wraps.

We were meeting a friend at Silverton at about 3:30PM. I was picking up Silver Strikes that he had acquired from the last Silver Striker event.

    $300

So, we had signed up for the Silverton slot club. A very good promotion. Their slot program is $1 = 2 points. For the first 24 hours, you accumulate prizes at the new member rate.

For $1250 coin in, I received:

    a Fidget spinner

    upload_2017-8-1_18-54-30.png

    A free buffet (dinner tonight)

    $50 free play

7 entries into the slot tournament.

So, Les and I played in the slot tournament. Entries were 200 points ($100 coin in), and a Maximum of seven. I had the max, Les had one.

I played and hit the top end jackpot (red, white, and blue 7 for 10,000 points). They pay 30 places, but only record your score if you get over 10,000 points.

As we're getting ready to leave, and I saw Les signing his ticket. WTF?? When did he score a 10,000 point spin. He smiled and told me "right before the end" he got one. I looked at his score and although he did get 10,000 points, his overall score was lower than mine.

So, they will post the winners at 7PM, we will go back to Silverton, check the score, play our free play, and have dinner. Then it's down to Andiamo's at the D to use our food vouchers on a "take out" meal, and maybe play my match play coupon.

Les is here, ready to go to dinner and then "dinner". I'm almost done with my 1000TC day, then I'm probably done playing for the trip.

    End of the 2nd day

So, Les and I drove to Silverton to check the standings. Les saw his name in the top 30, which means that I also finished in the top 30. The big surprise was my Las Vegas local buddy WON $1000 cash for winning the tournament. Looking at his score, he got two of the top combinations!! I texted him congratulations.

Les and I ate out two free buffets. Silverton's buffet is a solid life sustaining+ $15.99 buffet. Les and I agreed that it was the type of meal that we needed to eat. We didn't need fancy food.

I realize that many of you come for vacation and want to "treat" yourselves. Les and I come to Las Vegas so often (this is my 8th trip this year) that sometimes, we just want a reasonably priced "life sustaining meal".

After dinner we played off out FP, which was increased by $20 due to our placing in the tournament. I made about $50 and Les did the same.

I played the new version of Wonder 4, Wonder 4 "stacks" It is a lower priced version of the Wonder 4 Jackpot machine. Jackpots are proportionally lower.

    upload_2017-8-1_22-29-15.png

OK, our last item for the evening was to redeem food vouchers at Andiamo's Steak house at the D. Food vouchers can only be redeemed before 6PM and after 9PM, and since we were taking out (to take home tomorrow) we didn't need to rush.

I had $50 (yeah, my offers are drying up) and Les had $25. I ordered a 28 oz. bone-in ribeye and Les ordered two meatballs.

    upload_2017-8-1_22-29-59.png

I ordered mine "very rare", and while I was waiting for it to be prepared, I went down to play my two $25 match plays, which I promptly lost. Three more pushes, and I decided I'd had enough and went up to pick up my food. les had just arrived, and we agreed to meet back at harrahs.

I needed about 79 or so TC to complete my 1000TC day, so I sat down at Wierd, Wicked, and Wild. I was down to $10 on my $100 when I hit a bonus for $140. Les arrived just as I hit my third bonus. The first two added about $140 to my total. The third bonus brought my total to $550, and I told myself that if I played down to $500, I would be $400 up for the session and 86TC.

Played down to $499.60. Put a dollar in the machine to round it up, and cashed out. Les and I made a "plan" for tomorrow, and we separated. I felt so good, since the $400 win brought me back from most of the afternoon's losses, that I decided to "treat myself" to a pastry at the Fulton St. Food Court on my way up to the room.

It's called a "Frasier", and it was very good.

    upload_2017-8-1_22-30-47.png

Also stopped by the "Nectar bath Treats" to purchase a gift for my ex-wife, who is holding down the fort at home.

I bought a "cupcake treat soap", and three scoops of bubble bath.

    upload_2017-8-1_22-31-11.png
    upload_2017-8-1_22-31-34.png

I'm now back in the room, my shoes are off, the Frasier eaten, the TR finished. Time to start packing, breakfast tomorrow could be Silver Sevens, or back to Lucky Dragon.

All in all, a successful trip. All objectives accomplished without major damage. Thanks for reading

    Trips to Las Vegas:

    Epilogue:

Go home day. Up at 6AM, packed my bags, Called the front desk to have my charges cleared/paid with RCs.

May go to Silver Sevens for breakfast, but I think my comps are all used up there. May go to QQQQ since I have $350 in comps there, or may just stay out of the casinos this morning. After all, I'm coming down for the 7* signature event and I'm "down" two 2500TC days. I'm just short of 90,000TC with three known trips to Las Vegas before the end of the year. 150,000 is definitely doable, plus, I'm still "up" for the year.

NOTE: $10.00 PER DAY OFF FOR WAIVING HOUSEKEEPING IS PROPERTY SPECIFIC. HARRAHS HAS IT, BUT NOT ALL LAS VEGAS PROPERTIES ARE DOING IT!! i MADE THE MISTAKE OF HAVING LES TRY TO DO IT AND WHEN HE ASKED, THEY LOOKED AT HIM LIKE HE HAD TWO HEADS.

Despite my losses, I may pay $35 at the airport to "buy my way" into A1-A15. since I have B6. Or, I may take one for the team and save the money since my ex-wife has to take my son to school to pick up his schedule and there's no real hurry to get back..

Other additions, not much slot porn, but I have this to offer:

    5 Buffaloes X 12 on Buffalo Gold for $360

    upload_2017-8-2_7-6-23.png
    upload_2017-8-2_7-9-18.png

Two bonuses in the same game at Wonder 4 tower

    upload_2017-8-2_7-7-16.png

They play consecutively, and both of the bonus games sucked.

The safe in the Harrahs Valley Tower is approximately 14" x 14" x 7".

The room AC DOES NOT turn off if there's "no motion" When I arrive, I set the room temp to 65 and the AC runs continuously.
