Hmmm?? Myvegas is giving away pairs of Cher tickets..

I wonder if that means lack luster ticket sales? Not buy 1 get 1 but two free tickets.

 

I saw that and had the very same thought.
I am not sure the capacity of the venue.
But I do believe that Cher does not exactly have the draw for the current Vegas demographics..

 

Interesting ... we've seen every major entertainer at The Collosseum. We feel her show was by far the worst ... not terribly bad, just not as good as the rest. Maybe that's part of the equation ....

So 3842 unsold tickets across 9 shows - 426 per show. 4620 seats each show - so approx 90% "sold" (I'm sure there are a lot of comps/press tickets in the first few shows).

Not Celine level enthusiasm but not too bad.

 

I suspect the show is doing fine, but the tickets they're giving away are seats with undesirable views that would be unlikely to sell otherwise. That was the case with the opening night tickets to Ricky Martin I got through them, and that show was very well attended.

 

They're papering, Grouponing, discounting and 2-for-1ing Cher to get her to those numbers.

The night I saw her, the audience was catatonic. The venue felt cheap. She lipped a lot of the show. For the price, I expected a lot more than just a near-identical retreat of her last tour.

 

It's a press agent's job to make sure opening night is packed. You don't want to spook the talent or the casino.

I'd be interested to see how Martin has done after that opening week.

 

We saw Cher on Friday. Loved the show and the audience was very involved. Loud, even ;-)

Pass. I saw her in Tampa in 2003 and all it was, was a fucking political diatribe the whole night. Never again. It sucks because I love her music. I don't care where you stand on the political spectrum, you're doing a disservice to the fans who paid good money to hear you sing and to see a good show. If you want to pontificate about political issues get a job on Fox, CNN, MSNBC etc.
