    Hello all,
heading to Vegas tomorrow and I think the WSOP is still going on. If I head out to the Rio will I be able to see it live?
    Thanks in advance,

They are currently down to the final table. This year, there won't be a break until November for the final table. They are currently on a short break. Play resumes Thursday and will be on ESPN & ESPN2.

Not sure how seats are made available now that it's final table and the players will have their rail there as well taking up room.

And they moved it from the big Penn & Teller theater into one of the ballrooms. So while there may be room to get in, you might have to stand in a crowd and may not see much.

But if you go, let us know how it looked!

I've stayed at the Rio several times during the WSOP. Always surprised at how dull it can be, watching a bunch of prople sitting around a table looking bored. Unless Helmuth is around, or your brother-in-law has mede it to the third day. The excited commentary that they do on TV is missing, of course. During meal breaks you might catch some players and their hangers-on at the Thai restaurant reviewing their triumphs/mistakes.

More important, no hole card views! Its pretty dull to watch live. I have a good friend who did very well in some tourneys in Tunica years before, multiple wins and final tables, and I could barely tolerate watching. I would check in every hour or so, watch for five minutes, and ask how he was doing. but it was just too dull to watch for any extended period of time

Not hearing the TV commentary might be considered a plus by some. I watched some last night on TV. If I were in Vegas, I would try to attend just to see the Englishman play in the heads of the other guys.

lol, if that's your goal, you better get there early. He has been fun to watch, but it doesn't look like he will be around much longer

Was able to see on the ESPN coverage last night that they had some seating riser also to the dealer's backside. On the opposite side of the players "cheering section" boxes. Didn't look like a lot of seats, though. But if you find a spot there, at least you can see the table and the overhead TVs.

But I agree, attending in person is like watching paint dry. Went once on an early day because some friends I was with wanted to go see it. We looked around for about 10 minutes and left.

Like it or loathe it, the commentary/presentation is essential to making poker entertaining to watch. And outside of the main event final table action, most of it is edited down substantially to keep it from being dull on TV.

Watching the final table, almost live, while staying at the Plaza last year, was difficult. Even with commentary, there were too many non-hands, and I struggled to stay awake even as it was heads up for all the Tostitos.

That was such a cooler. He overplayed the hand big time, but still would have lost tons. And Blumstein must have loved that table draw, having him on his right. He really hasn't taken that great of advantage with that huge chip lead... Table is tight as hell with the exception of Hesp.

And another bummer, Hesp got a LOT less entertaining after that hand, but I'm not surprised.

They played heads-up for 8 hours last year... LOTS of people struggled to stay awake!

And that doesn't seem long compared to other years I remember. I remember one year tuning in at 6pm, watching until about midnight, going to sleep, and then tuning back in at 8:30 the next morning to watch the end of it, lol

I remember that. It never occured to me to turn it on while I was getting ready for work the next morning, and when I got into the office someone had turned it on the conference room TV and we watched the end over bagels and coffee.

I have a feeling the Final Three will get done pretty quickly tonight.

The commentary gets on my nerves so much, I sometimes watch on mute.

I can't stand Antonio advising what the players should do... uhh, you can see all the cards idiot, of course you know what the best move is. Can only take Norman's stupid jokes for so long.
