Which coupon book do you buy LVA or ACG?

Thinking of buying either the l.v.a . or a.c.g. coupon book for the first time. Which coupon book do you buy and if you buy both which one do you find using the most? Thanks.

 

I always buy the Las Vegas Advisor and occasionally add the American Casino Guide depending on their coupons and my plans for the trip.

 

It's a toss--ACG is much cheaper but doesn't have as many gambling coupons.
If you are just staying on the Strip, it is tough to justify either one.
If you are going to go DT for at least a day, I would get both--for each person in your party.

 

Use ACG because of spending time downtown. Plus the ACG has coupons I can use in Illinois and tunics, ms.

 

Usually get LVA, although not close to what it used to be. You might think of it more along the lines of, if you use one or two coupons, the book has paid for itself. LVA has very good 50% up to $50 off coupon for Palms. You can compare coupon lists (I would not spend a lot of time doing this), both sites list them. There is a lot of overlap. Remember if you buy LVA, you are buying a membership, not just the book, so more expensive that ACG. Have fun!

 

Neither for me. I go solo but many of their coupons require 2 for 1's. Not many are for 50% off for 1 person. Yes there are some coupons for your play but not worth my time as I won't be using a majority of the coupons in the book. You didn't mention if you were a solo or couple or more but solo people don't get as much use from the book as couples would. Of course there are some solo people who do get the books and use many coupons but a majority of us solos won't.

 

For the last 10 years I have gotten both. I used to trade for lots of coupons for my wife to use when she joined me. However, for the last 4 years, I have purchased two of each (one set for my wife and one set for me). I still occasionally trade for some extras that we can use.

I do 2-4 trips a year. My wife joins me at least once a year. When we both go, we have a car. When I go solo, I use the local bus (RTC) to get around.

I track my usage/return on investment. Every year I have gotten at least 4 times what I paid for the books in actual cash saved/won. Not potential savings/winning but actual savings/winning; i.e. if I lose when I use a match play it counts as zero in my cash saved/won. Yes, I spend some time/effort travelling around but I enjoy it. Since my trips are usually 6-7 days (5-6 nights), I need something to do to kill a little time .... this works for my wife and I.

So bottom line, if you are willing to travel around a little (by car, bus, whatever), getting both is well worth it.

 

Always get at least the LVA. Got both this year but it really depends on which gambling coupons are in the ACG. A coupon run downtown more than covers the cost of them from my experience.

 

I blogged extensively about this last year, with the goal of explaining the value to my friends, who were going with me at Halloween.

I don't recall the 2017 coupon list for ACG off the top of my head, but by last year I was nearly at the point where the modest cost of the book wasn't worth getting one, even though I sorta get the book for free every year. (I get free credit on Amazon through websites, so that credit can be used for a lot of things, naturally.)

If you're a downtowner and the type who likes to use a coupon deal, even if you have to jump through one hoop, pre-fund your trip by buying the LVA.

But yeah, review the lists for both books and see what is logical, especially if you're a Vegas veteran.

 

I buy the LVA. I stay downtown, 4-6 trips per year, and rarely visit the strip.
I am usually solo, so a lot of the food coupons are useless to me. I really wish that would change, but it still pays for itself with the gambling coupons downtown.

 

We buy the LVA and feels it is more than worth it. My husband uses the match play and I use the slot play. We use most of the buy one get one free buffets downtown also.

 

Both! They are both well worth it.

 

I buy both every year. Well worth it. With just the free/match play: in a bad year I've earned only about $50 back (basically paid for the books). in a good year I've earned enough to pay for my rental car for the 2 weeks (about $350). Most years I end up about $150 in won money by the end of the year with the free/match play coupons. On top of that I get so many 1/2 price meals that are just gravy on top. I'm mostly solo and they're both great deals.

 

I used to buy both, but now with MyVegas Rewards, it's hard to fit enough in, to justify both, I now buy LVA only. I like the monthly newsletter, and the web site, plus the occasional extra online coupon.

 

I used both in the past few months and felt like I had to "run my ass off" with ACG to get my money worth as the majority of the coupons were lower end or lower value. I didn't use the half of it as I got tired running place to place to spend money to think that I was saving money.

In May I used about 4 LVA coupons and got my money's worth. 25% off Binions Steak, 2-1 Mirage and a couple of Freeplay rewards on Fremont. When I go back in the fall probably use Wicked Spoon, Ellis and some randoms on Fremont and with a just a few stops it will be more than paid for.

 

I bought both for the first time for my April trip. I enjoy the strip but love to visit downtown each trip. Mrs. LV and I stayed at the D and use a good amount of coupons from each book. A downtown visit is a must to reap the true value from either book IMHO. There was a 2 for 1 Wicked Spoon coupon in the LVA this year! That, alone, was enough to pay for both books. Have fun!

 

I usually don't get either but when I do I go with the ACG. It's cheaper, I usually can get it less that list price and I know I will get my cost back.

 

I still have the Cosmo 2for1 if anyone needs it. problem is, I don't know what to trade it for, as I have everything that I need from LVA and ACG.

 

I always buy the LVA coupon book, but am very disappointed in their new system online.
