So sports betting doesn't count towards any membership credits?

I was in MGM last week to lay some money down on Warriors/ Cavs game 3. I gave the attendant my mlife card and she declined it saying it doesn't count. Is this true with all casinos?

 

CET gives microscopic comps on sports betting but unless you're dropping 10k a,game doubtful if you see anything comped other than drink tickets

 

Wynn will give you credit too, but its also miniscule

 

My recollection is that for TR, the rewards are 1/4%, and William Hill is a whopping 0.1%. Linking your bets to your card is much more valuable, though, in case you lose your ticket. Golden Nugget does it, too.

 

i cant imagine it would how many bets do you place and hour compared to other games?

Yeah, but that's not the reason some casinos don't offer comps for sports betting. You can also bet both ways at roulette, for example

 

Betting both ways at roulette still allows for the zeros to wipe out your bets.

Sportsbooks run on a very thin margin. You can't make a twenty dollar bet, and expect a beer. (even though many people do!)

At Westgate, it takes $220 at the sportsbook to get you a dollar. It takes $33 to earn a dollar betting horses.

 

every fall I lay down between $1500-2000 on NFL and other futures, not just for me but for some friends as well, link my card but get nothing really in comps

I agree. Its the margins that explain why there aren't any significant comps at sports betting. But the margins aren't thin because of the same bettors wagering both sides. The books would love it if you did that. It guarantees they will come out ahead on that wager

 

I used to be a sports book bettor at MGM 1996 to 2001. You had to have a Sports Book Account which was completely different than a casino account.

Also, at some casinos the Sports Books are not part of the casino property, they are contracted out. Cantor Gaming and William Hill are two of them. Towards the end of George Maloof control at Palms, Southpoint Casino ran the Palms Sports book until the ******s from Cantor gaming came in.

The COMPS on Sports Book has ALWAYS been much lower than the normal players clubs. Sports Book betting isn't a guaranteed win for the casino like a slot machine is. All those have actual statistics that state how much a slot machine, Blackjack game, Craps game will make for the house. When you put out an idiotic line on a football game, the house is going to take a massive loss.

You can have a contract that will give you X% if you bet Y Amount. For small time bettors, you get drink tickets now.

From all my time betting in Las Vegas, 20 years or so, everything I did came out of my comp account. If I racked up $20,000 in comp, I could blow $20,000 in comp. BUT!! I always had to get a comp ticket from the Sports Book. I couldn't charge to my room. I never had a casino host. It was the Sports Book managers.

Some things my comp account was NOT eligible for at casinos. Whereas, a player that played table games and slots, they could pretty much do everything. Of course, you are never told you can't do that until you try.

Yes, but only if the odds stay the same. If you're familiar with sports betting arbitrage, you'll know that even the slightest change of odds at one bookmaker can generate a guaranteed payday from betting both sides. So, yes, you can bet both sides... and yes, doing so will guarantee you to lose the vig. But as soon as the odds shift, you can game the system to not lose.

Same idea as card-counting in blackjack. There's already a very low advantage for the house, and if a player can predict when the odds have shifted into their favour, they can make money by making the right bets at the right time.

In both cases, the casino knows the game and how it works. Blackjack players get very little in terms of comps, because it's known that they can eliminate the house edge with relative ease... and as such, sports bettors will get very little in terms of comps for the exact same reason.

 

Hey guys quick question, does any casino offer Points or Comps for sports book bets? Most places I notice don't even ask you for your players card or anything to give you tier credits or points for the bets? Why is that? And do any of you know of a casino who does offer points or tier credits?

Greater the house edge in a casino game, the better comps you'll get on your bets. Sports betting doesn't have much of an edge thus no comps. Sportsbooks are there to get you into the casino and blow it on games with a low house edge like slots.
