I feel like the casino hosts who are good at their jobs are at the higher-end properties that recognize the value of hosts. The host is the honey that attracts the players. Not sure why casinos continue to put a tight squeeze on gaming and hospitality.

 

My host is neither a salesperson or hugger. I can do 6-7 trips per year, four nights each and never have any contact with my host except for my emails reserving the room and limo. I make my dinner reservations on-line through Open Table. My host arranges the Gold card and suite but almost never bothers to look me up in the casino and that is fine. I don't need small talk.

 

I envision you as our version of Dragnet's Joe Friday... "just the facts ma'am."

 

Funny I have a friend my age (64) and his last name is Friday and his dad was Joe and he was a cop in Milwaukee.

I didn't mean it to sound like I didn't like chatting, but when it is with a host and forced, they can just stay away. Just give me my perks and I'm fine. I've chatted with many VMBers at Boar's Head Bar in Vegas. Also gone to multiple dinners with them.

Just respond to my emails and get things setup the way I ask, or answer a question I may have. I'm there to gamble, not make friends with someone getting paid based on how much I play

 

That's a solid system you have working.
I wouldn't change a thing either.

 

This reminds me of the Louis Theroux documentary, the host was a godfather to the child of the whale from Canada. The host claimed they were friends first but secondarily a client, it just kind of rang hollow to me.

A good article, hosts are selling the property, and every sales job has a quota and in this case it's theo from guests.

 

In the end, the host works for themselves and the casino.

If you think otherwise, you are not thinking it through.

I would agree that the mgmt is often counter productive in how they use their hosts. Pretty sure many accountant types think of them as an expense. If used right, they earn their keep.

 

Interesting article. Some pretty harsh comments from the peanut gallery at the bottom though.

 

Yup! I often pick one casino over another if I like the host there better. And I hate to admit it, but I'll sometimes over play a little if I like my host. IE "I dont want Mike to think I shit out early on him, I'll play through a few hundo more. After all, he got me the big suite this time"

 

I actually JUST re-watched that last night...my GOD that Arabic guy looks BAD...like he HATES table games...realized, I'm glad I don't play tables anymore.
