Mirage is a great place for a first visit. Right in the center of all the action. I wouldn't change a thing.

Agree with hillwood24......... we have always enjoyed the Mirage.

Try the "secret" spot to view the volcano. Line up a few minutes early by the valet, great view across the lake of fire right in to Harrahs.

It has always been my favorite Book in Vegas.

    Have fun....good luck.

I absolutely agree! The Mirage opened the week of my first real Las Vegas visit ('88 or '89 I think). The lines were long just to enter the place and look around. It blew everything else in town away. A lot has changed since then, but it's still a fine property in a super location...

Though I was an early property visitor, the room rate was well above my per-diem in those days.
Hope you have a GREAT trip!

Yes. It's where I stayed my first trip, and have stayed several times since! Love the hotel!

We stayed at the Mirage for the first time in May after being that Aria 3x. We will stay at the Mirage probably from now on as we love the location, choice in restaurants, the buffet is decent enough with the all you can drink option and we like the casino.

The one thing that sucks is that in the basic room the bathroom is tiny. The room set up is strange in that there is lots of open space right where you enter but the bathroom is small. A lot of people suggest getting the upgraded room with the larger bathroom if you are looking for a soaking tub etc.

I'm not a fan of the Mirage's casino. I feel like a first vegas trip needs to be grand and I don't get that at all from the mirage. Case in point, I stayed at Harrah's on the first two days of my first Vegas trip and thought: "people come all the way to vegas for this dump." With AC around the corner from me, why would I want to go here?! Then, I went to the Venetian for the last leg of my four night trip and WOAH! I get that Vegas is different for different folks, but for me it's gotta be about the glamour.

The Mirage is a super place for a 1st timer. It has a wonderful location. You can walk to many nice casinos from it. It has a free tram to Treasure Island. The Mirage's pool is amazing. Its buffet is a good one. Their lobby is very welcoming. The popular shows LOVE and Terry Fator are there. And the Mirage is a casino that I have been very lucky in. :)

I think it's a great place for a first timer. Nice size with plenty to see and do but not overwhelming, GREAT location, pretty iconic spot. Enjoy!

+1 for everything previously said. Mirage is in a great location for exploring the north and mid-strip. Property size is just right, big enough to have good amenities, but not too overwhelming. I love the pool there. Love and Terry Fator are very good shows. I'm not a huge fan of the casino, but usually will play elsewhere when staying there.

    Enjoy!

I agree with the others. I think Mirage is a great place for a first-time visitor to Vegas. The location and *quality* of the resort is very decent, with a great pool. You aren't paying Wynn prices, and I don't think you should pinch too many pennies on your first trip to Sin City.

I can't find much to fault at the Mirage. I guess my only complaint is that people are allowed to get to the pool when it opens, put a towel down, then go back to bed and come back hours later. I haven't really had that issue anywhere else.
That being said, it's a great place, too bad I won't be visiting anymore due to my MGM boycott

GREAT spot for a first timer. Upper mid-tier, but still great prices. Great location, rooms are solid (I'd suggest pay a few bucKS to upgrade to the tower room....WAY better bathrooms, but not much more!), and just a lovely property.

Also, if you get the Vegas bite like the rest of us, you still have a lot of nicer places you can grow into. Personally, I want a nice room on my first trip....but once you go too nice, it's hard to go back down, and it removes the fun of "movin' on up" in Vegas. So personally, I'd rather save Venetian, Aria, Wynn until I tried a few properties, but thats me. Moving up is fun, down, not so much. ;)

I personally think it is one of THE best options, and values (close to upper tier but still good prices), for a first timer...enjoy!

That's interesting @tringlomane - our first visit in June of 2000 was at The Mirage and we still love it there, we stay other places to mix things up a little and do like Cosmo and Wynn a lot, but Mirage is still our home base! We like the slots there, lol! The VP for you probably isn't ideal, but we play a little VP there too.
If we're ever there at the same time, we'll buy you a drink or three as a thank you for all the great VP advice you give.

To the OP - Mirage is a great place to start out - location is good and has a great pool.

Awww thanks! But yeah, I like staying there, but not playing there typically, at least for VP. Their VP is mediocre at best, definitely below Cosmo and Wynn. And it was that way in 2001 as well when I first went there. I really should have explored more casinos back then. Most of the ones I did visit are still there today! :(

I love the Mirage, and think it's a great place for a first visit. Not too fancy, but not a dive either. Nice, clean, great location, rooms are good too. If it were my first visit I would definitely be happy there. In fact, I just took my gf to Vegas for her first time over NYE and we stayed at Mirage. She loved it. We moved to Paris for the second part of the stay and she loved that too. Paris would be a pretty good option for a first visit as well as it is one of the resorts that is still themed. Just make sure you get a renovated room.

    Have fun!
